Hi I am a new Dad here on Navy dads , my son is in boot camp and I just joined today . I am excited for him and a proud father of him and the decisions he has made . Now for me to learn and understand what he is doing and going threw , I have never been in the military but I have had other family members in the service . But thanks and I am happy to join Navy Dads and hope I can learn and enjoy this experience with my son in the Navy .

best way to learn....click things on the site, explore, and ask questions!! We were all new Navy Dads (and moms!) at one time or another.....
Also New. Son in boot camp. PIR scheduled for 10/25/19 Hope to learn from this site and pass on information when possible. My son is expecting to go the Pensacola for A school for CTN rate. Does anyone know when he will ship out after PIR? Anyone else have a recruit finishing boot camp 10/25/19
Howdy Stephan, welcome to the Navy family! My son graduated from boot camp last Friday (Sept 27th). He's at A School in Great Lakes for another 8 weeks, and then off to Coronado Island. Like you I was not a member of the armed services, and I had many questions about the boot camp training and experience. You're going to be blown away at the huge growth and changes you'll see in your son when you next see him. I hope you're able to make his graduation.
I found this site very helpful, and recommend spending some time exploring. Once you hear from your son he should tell you his mailing address/ ship# (where he's housed). This is important if you're planning on writing letters. I'm not a huge letter writer, but was told how much it means to your recruit when they receive letters from home. If you're going to send letters I recommend Sandboxx. I'm told the letters get to the recruits quicker vs standard USPS. You'll find it online.
Again, welcome to the family, congratulations, and thanks to your son for his service to our nation.
