Hi Jim,
Sorry it took so long to respond. To be honest, I have been so busy that I forgot to check Navydads. My bad.
My son is 3.5 years in and put his 2nd class on Dec 2011! It took me 4 years to get it. LOL He is a CTI and they move up pretty quickly to E-5. He another year before he can test for E6.
My son has a girl, too. The icon pic is from the Navy Ball this last year. He is in Georgia and really likes the Navy. He plans to re-up.
Hi Mark. My son Mike put on second class December first. He met a beautiful woman and is in love. Only in the military can a man from America, go to Japan and fall in love with a woman from Brasil. Life is good. So how are you and your family? I hope your holidays were nice.
Just checking in with the Maryland group. I see its been quiet for a few months now. What is happening with your sailors?
New here as well. Our Daughter Kaylei is in Ship 11 Div 134. Her PIR 27 Apr.....We are stoked. As a former Navy Vet, I finally get to see a PIR. When I went throught in 82, I was part of a "special company" 947. We are planning on leaving on the 24th, arriving at GL 26 April, and staying at the base campground until Sunday morning. Kay is going to attend A school there at GL. Hopefully, we'll have some time with her SAturady after she checks into the school command....
So much to see and do in Japan. And there is a shuttle bus that goes to Toyko every couple of hours if they want to go for the week end. My son Mike actually wants his shore duty there too. But then again he met a very nice Brazilian woman that lives there. Yep, only in the military can a man from the USA go to Japan and fall in love with a woman from Brazil. Sounds like a cheap movie. But MWR also has tours, movies and other things he can check out too.
You're very welcome. Keep in mind we are neighbors. If you ever want to get together with my son and myself let me know. I am sure hearing from him would put your mind at ease over lots of things. Let me know if you want my number. Jim
Hi Jim
I just viewed your pictures. Looks like your son is having a good time. I was texting my son the other night and he seems resigned to the situation. Said there is no sense griping anymore about it he'll just roll with it and figure it all out. I can see my son soaking up Japan like your son. I'll pass this on to him. I'll keep in touch. Thanks for your "ear".
Michael, my son Mike is in Yokosuka now aboard the George Washington. He loves Japan and the ship. Mike is IS (information security). A boring job he says, but he likes the people he works with. Check out my pictures and you will see a few of the ship.
Michael, in two years your son dan "cross rate" and tr4y for another field he will like. It may be diswsapointing for him now, but he may just enjoy his new rate and the people that make it. Time will tell. Best to him and you.
You're welcome. I can relate, mine is 26 and deciding on whether or not to get out. It's a new Navy and changing all the time. Maybe he can look into the Seaman to Admiral Program since he already has a degree and shoot for OCS.
