Navy Dads

My son leaves for BC on the 19th of July. He qualified for the nuclear program.  There are not enough words to say how proud I am of him.

Good Luck to your son, it's fun to watch them grow!
You should be very proud! Congratulations to your son. Your main job now is to stand by and support your son throughout this extremely challenging adventure. He will need your words of encouragement all the way through prototype, so be ready!
My son (Carl ) is definitely up for the Challenge.  He got accepted into a program as a Junior in Highschool and got to go full time to college and graduated Highschool with an Associates degree in Engineering.  AND he got an award at graduation for being the most outstanding student in the program.  Also the president of the college used my son's story in his commencement speech.  The last month as been so emotional for me.  By the time he leaves for BC I will be a basket case.  But boy, am I so very, very proud of him.

Cheryl, your son sounds exceptional, you have every right to be proud.  My son, who just left for Boot Camp last Tuesday is a lazy Genius.  Scored 99th percentile on the ASVAB started planning on going to the Air Force or Naval Academy when he was 8 years old.  High School and having fun caught up to him and his grades were only so-so.  I'm thinking he's going to dig in now and make us proud.  Can't wait to find out how he's doing.

His sister has been in the Navy for 2 1/2 years and is an E5.  She's also younger brothers biggest fan.

Good luck to you and your son as the journey continues.

Carl scored a 92 on the asvab and he oo as been planning on the Navy since a really young age.  Of course his dad and his uncle and now his half brother are all Navy Men.  Good luck to your son Joe.  Im sure your are very proud of him and your daughter.  :)
Joe, I had to chuckle when I read your comment.  I love the term "Lazy Genious!"  Sounds exactly like my son Evan, who is now a Petty Officer 2nd Class and a Nuclear Electronics Technician serving on board the USS Enterprise.  Like your son, mine was always very smart and bright.  He just never would apply himself.  After paying for two years of college where he only earned six credits I decided enough was enough. I applied some tough love and he finally explored his options with the armed services.  When we saw the navy recruiters they disn't take my son or me too serious when I told them that Evan would qualify for anything that the Navy had to offer.  When he scored through the roof on the ASVAB the recruiters attitude sure changed in a hurry!  Anyway, after two and a half years of extremely hard work Evan made it through all of the training and Power School and is now realizing his potential.  He actually told me that if he had to go back to college now he would ace all of his classes becasue he now knows how to study and concentrate and get the job done!  I am sure that your son will experience the same.  Good luck to both of you.

Well, Carl is off. Last time I communicated with him he was sitting at Ohare USO.
Just got the call, he's there and safe. Now it seems so real.  The pride and emotions are overflowing now...
The emotions have only just begun!  Hang on and enjoy the ride.  LarryD.

Tell me about it...I broke down in tears 3 times a work today! lsdemme2001 said:

Cheryl, sounds like your son is about 3 weeks behind my son.  We got our first letters, about 8 pages front and back yesterday, Thursday the 21st and a quick call this morning, Friday the 22nd, only about 5 minutes.  He's doing well and keeping his sense of humor.  Hopefully you can gauge when you'll receive more word from my experieince.

The boy in a box came today..already..it's only been 3 days...So here i am with the tears again.
