I need help concerning ship 5
My daughter decided to enlist in the Navy, she left for bootcamp and was set to graduate on March 7th,
I received a phone call 2 days ago informing me she was being administratively separated due to a medical record document from when she was 15
I am active duty with 20 years of service, my daughter was going into the CTI rate
She was qualified by DOD to apply to the Naval Academy, received the presidential nomination, was waitlisted to NAPS in RI. Unfortunately there were no seats available.
Aubrey graduated with honors, a scholar athlete, competed at state level in outdoor track, indoor track and cross country. Swam for her high school and played soccer. She received the Marine Corps athletic award
When she was 15 years old, I took her to see a psychiatrist in Jacksonville NC, not by my choice
She went through some step parent issues.
The provider barely spoke to either of us, documented inaccurate information prescribed my daughter with inappropriate medication, which I told her not to take.
Now this is coming back to haunt her, she did divulge seeing the provider before enlisting. And was cleared by MEPS
She also was declared fit for duty by the Psychiatrist at RTC Great Lakes
Why would the Navy take this dedicated outstanding recruit from her training and now admin sep her? I don't understand. Several calls are in the process to appeal the decision. I need anyone's assistance, any suggestions or comments.
And my daughter passed the second class swimmer qualification
What is RTC doing? Here is a recruit that has dreamed of serving her country honorably, was honest on her intake physical and is now being punished.
I feel this is a great dis-service to our country. SR Aubrey Bratton will make an outstanding addition to our fleet.
Which congressman do I contact
How do we appeal this decision
Any suggestions or comments to assist are in great need
I'm active duty stationed in CA, my home of record is OH
Any samply letters to a senator regarding this type of situation
legal informed me she had a good case to appeal

Carrie - I am so sorry to hear that your daughter is going through this. There is a fairly active "Ship 5" group on Navy for Moms - if you haven't already joined you should. I know that many people in the past have said that it is easier to fight if you stay at BC (although it could take quite some time). Don't give up! I wish you and your daughter the best - and I hope you can get answers soon.
Do we know what the outcome was?
