UPDATE: 10/12/2012....Has been a while since I have been on, Dougs been a PO 2 for awhile now, and took the 1st class test this month. Out of P'Cola and stationed near D.C now..

UPDATE: 04/01/09) Heard from Doug tonight, his promotion finally "offically" came through to PO3. He acts like its no big deal.............mom told him we better see pics soon with the new insignia..................LOL
(02/25/09) Well, Dougs back at Corry now as permanent party/staff. He drove down by himself, left 0100 and arrived around 2100, he sounded like he was dead on his feet and was heading to bed. We will have to wait until probably Monday and he gets assigned to his new barracks and reports in to find out what he he will be doing (if he can say). He is supposed to make E4 once he settles into the new unit, he already has 8 mths TIG as E3 since he had has NJROTC time, cant wait to see those stripes replaced by the eagle and rocker.
(02/11/09) Graduates "C" school in the morning, I am down here at Corry to bring him and his junk home.............it's amazing how much junk a 19 yr old can collect in 6 months ......LOL! Hope to be home Thursday morning/afternoon. He has 10 days or so home that back down here for 1st duty station.
Been so long since I have spent time in/around a military based town, forgot just how bad it can be. NAS Pensacola up the road is beautiful...............Corry is like an ungly step child. Obama needs to sent some of that stimulis money down here to fix the place up.

No info on IT A/C Schools. My son was at Corry Station as aCTN (down the road from NAS).I belive he had said there were IT's in his A school classes but there wasn't much interaction because of the different ratings and while they all followed a general guideline, the details of each ratings classes he wouldn't/couldn't go into. He is still at Corry, but can't talk much about where he actually works and what he does, so most of our emails deal with the lousy Ohio weather vs his weather.

David, how long was it before he finished C? CTI is so much different from other rates it is very confusing. With him going to language school the length of time is different, depending on which language they assign him. It could be 8 months or 2 years.

Thanks Dave for the quick return. Information is very helpful. Sure I may need more later. Sounds as if your son is off and running for a great career. Tell him thanks for the service and best of luck. Bill

Thanks for the tips David. I know about the long trips. I have done many of them. That was a long one for you and you’ve got to do it again in less than two weeks. Fortunately for us the trip from Atlanta to Pensacola is not that bad. We will be going I-85 to I-65 to 29/113. Rudy Tuesday sounds good. We will do that one night.

Hey David, congratulations on your son on completing “C” school. How was the trip to Pensacola? We are driving down to see our son this coming weekend for the first time. We had 20 minutes with him at PIR and that is all since he went in on Dec. 2nd. He just got Phase II liberty and we are finally going to have Christmas with him.

Thanks for the info David, my son was in boot camp during Christmas and we were planning on celebrating with him during PIR weekend. He ended up being grad-n-go and we got less than an hour with him. We wanted to wait and go down when he could leave the base if it is not to long. He called last night with a list of things he wants us to bring him. We will have to see how it goes.

I know your son will be glad to graduate soon. Have a safe trip to Pensacola. Are you driving down? We will be driving from Atlanta.

I wish knew you were over there. There as another Dad, Steve, there as well. We could have let the women sit together and we should have shared a table. I was starved so I was focusing on the food myself. Next meeting is in March. It will be at the Fairlawn/Bath Library and then we will head over to the Winking Lizard for lunch.
