The prayer ceremony followed a joint U.S. Navy/National Park Service ceremony commemorating the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The theme of this year's historic commemoration, "Pacific War Memories: The Heroic Response to Pearl Harbor," emphasizes the brave efforts of those who fought at sea, on land, and in the air, to turn the tide in the Pacific. More than 2,000 distinguished guests and the general public joined service members, Pearl Harbor survivors and their families and friends for the annual observance. Rex, a big howdy back to you! If you feel like getting out of the southern AZ heat for awhile, than come up to P.V. on the 22nd. Including people from the N4M's AZ group, the NavyDads AZ group, and some local DEP parents, it looks like we're going to have a good turnout. More than I had anticipated. Please let me know if you decide to join us.
I'm glad to see Sunset Point open again as well. It's was closed for quite a long time.

Aaron finished Machinist's Mate "A" School yesterday and is home for 10 days of leave. It is great to have him home, he hasn't been back since he left that cold, dark February morning 5 1/2 months ago! (OK, so maybe it wasn't THAT cold, but it sounded good... ) : )

Tom, thank you for sharing your good news with us. Congratulations to Kelly for all her efforts and doing such a fine job in school. I know how proud you and Peggy are of her. It will be nice for you all with Kelly stationed in CA.

Hi Everyone,

We just heard from Kelly in Pensacola that she was honored with being best in her A School classes with 97 grade point. She also learned that because her outstanding performance that she will be going to Lemoore Naval Air Station in California to be stationed with the AUF122 F/A 18 E/F Air Squadron. She is also being recommended for full officer training based on her performance before and during her A School training exercises. She is still waiting to hear if she will be made a Petty Officer Third Class as this was one of the incentives they were told about if they were in the top 2% of their class.

She is so happy with her accomplishment as we are very proud her determination to be the best she could become. We expect her home here in Chandler around August 3 or 4 which will be for a short break before moving her to Lemoore. Thanks for all your support in the past and I will keep you posted on her new adventures as always. Go Navy and go Kelly. Great job! Dad
PS that is her picture from PIR. Since being in Pensacola she has lost about another 20 pounds and needs all her uniforms tailored.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Kelly is now a sailor after going through her PIR last Friday, May 15th. You were all right in saying that the event is awesome. I have posted photos from the trip on my home page so please check them out when have a moment.

My new picture is of Kelly in our hotel room in the pose that states, " Watch out world, here I come." The difference we saw in Kelly after PIR compared to when she left home in March is truely remarkable. Her self confidence, self motivation, teamwork, and "I can do almost anything" attitude has transformed her into new person with a purpose. A Navy purpose to be the best and help others to reach theirs. Congratulations Kelly!

I will post more pictures soon. Way to go Kelly. Love you dad.
