My son graduated Sonar A School last Thursday in San Diego. He starts Ops school sometime near the end of Feb and then goes to Pearl Harbor. Does anyone know of have a general idea of how long the Ops school is? We were planning a trip to San Diego in the first part of April but guess we need to make other plans
Bill that's awesome congrats! Bravo Zulu Patrick!
Congrats Bill. Best of luck to Patrick.
Bill, Congrats on your sons accomplishments to date. I know you are proud of what he has done. I probably would had written that post in all capitalized and bold letters.
HooYah Patrick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wanted to be a proud father for a moment. Patrick is graduating from A school this Friday and he is the top of his class! He has really taken the ball and run with it! Very proud poppa here!
Wonder if "dunk" is going to now be when a player hits the water? Should be a GREAT game, and a great way to salute the troops! Also: http://www.veteransdayrun.com/run/san-diego (with links to other local races across the country) and even virtual races.
Fun at Fort Sam Houston today. ESPN2 broadcast "First Take" this morning from FSH. Sailors got to dress up and be on the air. All part of ESPN's salute to the military this week which will culminate on Friday with the Michigan State / North Carolina basketball game on the deck of the Carl Vinson.
Pete,
I cannot answer any of your questions, but can give you my perspective as a parent of a reservist. My son, a proud Navy Reservist and currently in A School, had to wait several weeks as well for his class to fill up. Needless to say he was very excited to begin the next phase of his Navy training following boot camp, only to experience "hurry up and wait". He was perplexed as we were for the wait because he was a grad and go, having only a few hours with us after PIR, but is very happy with his decision to join the Navy. I thank your daughter for her decision to serve our country.
depends who was slated first in the training cycle.....get used to hurry up and wait and that the only constant is change.....
My daughter got to her "A School" on 10/22 and was put on hold, for what they said would be 3-4 weeks until the class filled up. Yesterday, she got put back into a later class to make room for reservists who are taking the same school. Reservists get priority over regular Navy for schools? She is pretty p.o.'d about getting delayed again for "weekend warriors" (funny how she has picked up the lingo so quickly).
Anyone know why the Navy does this?
