Jeff, Unfortunately with the Navy there are so many if's, but's and requirements. My grandson started HM A School 10 days ago as well. He wants to be a Corpsman and hence will turn green for awhile. His present session will end mid-May. Since there appears to be a break between his graduation and the start of the Marine Training, he may be posted at his recruiting office for awhile, (where he worked during his DEP), and do some assist in recruiting at his former Chester Nimitz High School. I know this does not help you much, it is merely to illustrate what CAN happen. Remember him to keep his GPA at 92% or above. Fair wind in his sails.

Jean-Claude...I had heard both 14 weeks and 96 calendar days which would mean our son would be finishing HM A School the first week in May and I am assuming graduation the same week.  But I could be wrong so that is why I was asking if anyone else has a sailor that just started this past week and knows when this class will end.  Our son is hoping to finish high enough to become an x-ray technician.

Hi Jeff, it looks as if we are in the same boat. I have been told that the GL HM "A" School will last for approx. 14 weeks, depending on his score in GPA and the "specialty he chooses or is selected for him, (depending on his GPA score).

Hi everyone!  Been on Navy Dads for a while but new to this thread.  My son classed up in A school at GL this past week for HM.  Can anyone fill me in on how long the school is and any info about attending his A school graduation?  Does anyone else have a sailor who also just began school this past week?  We are trying to figure out when graduation might be.  Thanks!!

Our son is from AZ and froze through last year in HM school. He is now a happy camper in the hospital in San Diego. They will get orders around week 6 or 7 in A-school and his GPA in his class will determine when he picks his desired orders. Highest GPA gets first pick. But there is always the needs of the4 Navy to mess that up is they have needs to fill. They choose east coast or west coast or oversees. Good luck to him.

Hello Everyone, I just joined the family. My grandson has finished bootcamp in GL and has now began HM "A" School there as well. Being texas born, he dreams about a posting somewhere warmer. Does anyone knows what he can expect? He had no idea of what freezing the inside of your nostrils meant.

Hi all...just joined today!  Anyone have any info about MC A-school at Ft. Meade?

LOL! Booking of flights doesn't seem to be a forte of the Navy. When our daughter finished A School at Great Lakes, she was able to have two weeks before reporting to San Diego. Her flights (multiple) out of Illinois to the Pacific Northwest made a huge backward check mark, and included Phoenix, Arizona. The mileage total was more than doing LAX to any New York state airport.

The only bad thing about the Navy booking those flights is they definately don't look for the cheapest fare. It seems like whatever pops up on the screen they take it, but in the end its still worth it.

Hi Guys.
My daughter has been on hold since Aug in GC we have not seen her since April hoping for christmas, i guess the only way to look at it is the Navy will do what the Navy will do, i hope your son gets things sorted out.
