The story as I got it was that the plumbing backed up and flooded the laundry rooms. So my daughter and a bunch of other sailors had to don their coveralls and swab the place out. They weren't allowed to do any laundry or take a shower for a day or so. I think everything is OK now.

Ken, congratulations to Cody on his assignment. Is he going to attend a C-School or go directly to the fleet? Did he officially finish A-School or does he have F.A.T.S. training yet? Gary T.

Cody's orders posted and he is headed for the USS George H W Bush in Norfolk. He is very excited, especially about getting out of GL. I'm excited for him and know he will serve his county well and be a super GM.

What was the problem Bob? I believe the Enterprise is the oldest Ship (barracks ) on the A-School side of the base. I do think it will be demolished in the near future. (no date). I do know a lot of time and effort by former sailors under the then former barracks chief Will Barton early 2009 did paintings or murals on the walls in that ship. Great work by young sailors who donated there time. A must see. What about the plumbing? Gary T.

My son starts his Corpsman A school today. He has enjoyed his one week of "off" time inbetween graduation and A school. Proud Dad, we too had a few people come up to us and say thanks. It was and is a very proud moment for our family. I can't wait to see what's next for him.

We sometimes see in the burbs around Chicago, we will sometimes send over free deserts, basically you can tell you waiter that you want those soldiers to get desert and we pay for it and leave... I have also picked up lunch for soldiers in diners... its an acknowledgement with out embarrassing them

I will always treasure the memory of the lady on the Navy Pier on PIR afternoon who came all the way across the walkway to thank Cody for his service. That was the first time it happened. The look on his face was undescribable but I'll always be able to picture it in my mind.

We were walking with our son, him in uniform, on the boardwalk in VA Beach, and a passing man said, "Looking well squared away there sailor." It was a good moment.

Thank you! It truly is a great feeling! Everywhere we went, people stopped us to congratulate our son on his graduation and to thank him for his service. It was great to see that people are recognizing the dedication and sacrifice made by our sons and our daughters. We were both impressed at how our son wore the uniform so proudly, as well as how he opened doors, addressed others with respect, looked people in the eye when he spoke and of course, how he suddenly learned how to fold his clothes so perfectly! After having spent the weekend with some of our newest sailors and their families....we are in good hands.
