Welcome all our new members. My son Dan PIR'd 1/8 and this was his first full week at Corpsman A school. He is scheduled to graduate April 30.

My son is in A School in P'Cola. He is scheduled to graduate March 10 (Wed). Does anyone have any idea of their leave time that day and the days surrounding graduation? I have asked him but he says he doesn't really know. Also can any one tell me what the ceremony is in comparison to PIR?

Hi Folks,
My son Nathan just PIR'd on 29 Jan. He is at A school at GL for Corpsman. Looking starting 8 Feb and a May 14th graduation date. Nice to be able to reach out and be in contact with him. We had a great time last weekend even though the weather was a little on the cold. Looking forward to being a new member of the A school group.

Clay, congrats to your daughter! Just wait for the call. Don't expect every weekend home. I think is was in October the brass changed back to the old system of duty every four days which means one weekend off each month. The majority of ships on the A-School side were doing what was known as DOG DUTY, one group would work the whole weekend leaving three weekends off. That didn't work so well so they went back to the old way one weekend out of four off. Gary T.

A school is the advanced training for their rate. Boot camp trains them to be sailors and A school trains them for their job. Dan is a Corpsman (HM) he graduated 1/8/10 so he had about three weeks of swabbing. Every rate and school is different though. I've heard of no wait to months of waiting.

John,
What is his A school?
I'm wondering when Chris will find out how long his wait will be before he starts ATT over at AECF A school.
