Attended family day on the CVN 77 and had a great time. The air show was very up close and personal as we were right up front when they did there touch and go landings with the F-18's. My son John was just as excited as I was as it was his first time to see the show. He couldn't believe they let the civilians that close and neither could I.

My son reported to CVN77 last Saturday afternoon. He seems very excited and impresses so far. This is his first fleet assignment since A School. His first text to me when he saw the carrier was "Oh my God, it's huge!" Wish we could have been aboard for the family cruise.

Could have used you last year Dusty...needed someone to give me a secret on a graceful way to get out of the bottom rack in AIMD berthing for my Tiger Cruise on the TR last year...I managed....but it wasn't pretty!!!!!

Hi Ken,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. This is his first deployment. He let us know that he was safely on the ship and that his duties are difficult but exciting. How often does your daughter communicate with you? I assume that communication is limited. According to the Ike website they are due back in Norfolk on July 30th. Do you know if we will get notification? How do we make arrangements at the base to greet them when they return?

Is this your son's first deployment? My daughter is on the Ike and has been since it deployed in January. Let me know what info you would like and I would be glad to offer any that I have acquired.

Looks like HS-5 is responsible for some saves today as they responded to a downed aircraft 5 miles out from the USS Eisenhower in the North Arabian Sea. One sailor still missing, the search continues. Please pray for them all.

My son Adam is on his way to Bahrain to join the USS Eisenhower. If anyone has a sailor on the Eisenhower I would love to hear any info, comments, or suggestions you have.

My son is graduating GM A School on April 6 and picked orders for CVN77 to report on May 10. I'm anxious to communicate with other dads who have sailors on carriers.

Thanks, I really appreciate the info as my son is serving on the CVN 77 and would love it if they moved to Mayport. We are planning on retiring in Florida and that would be so much closer.
