For those with a sailor just setting out on cruise...you will go through various periods with no email contact with the ship for various lengths of time. During Eric's cruise, there was once a period of almost three weeks with no e-mail so beware, be ready and keep the faith. They loose mail for various reasons so remember the old saying...no news is good news. Keep your care packages going (stop by the Care Package group for ideas and hints), keep your emails going, even if they bounce back to you, and most importantly, keep the faith!

My son, just had shore leave in Singapore where I had the opportunity to see him via Skype & webcam! He finished his qual for PC (plane captian) and is the only AW on the USS George Washington with it. This is for inspecting the Helo's when on the carrier and all activites related once they land. While not required, his command prefers AW's to have it. Garrett will now be the lead trainer for the rest of the AW's on the ship even though he is only AW3. He hopes this will assist him with his effort to get 2nd class at the next testing period in the fall. He says pictures are coming for the Talisman Saber 09 they participated with the Australians and he was flying looking back showing the HS-14 Chargers show Helo and the GW in the background. Will forward when it arrives.

About the care packages----- for Eric's cruise I started adding labels to everything I sent:

as a way to thank all and spread the NavyDads word. As some of you know I was sending these out to any member that asked, but I cannot anymore. If anyone wants the Publisher file though for that label, send an e-amilt o me at: navydadsadmin@cox.net and I'll send a copy of the file to you so you can print your own labels. Feel free to make you own label.....remember that much of what you send will be shared with ohter sailors (like the $250 in Girl Scout Cookies I sent....) so do something to thank your sailors, their shipmates, and anyone else that might see the stuff you send!

the first two months are the hardest---- use e-mail and send lots of care packages (flat-rate boxes from the post office......ship anything for $11.95)......and look forard to that Tiger Cruise at the end!!

I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a very special Father's Day! As the result of the character you instilled into your sons and daughters, they have become the awesome, special, brave, skilled men and woman we are all proud of. Your efforts as great fathers shine though them. Your love for them is no less than a mother's, just different; strong, silent with steadfast perseverance, always caring with a love deep within us rarely shown as we check our emotions, but there never the less. You should enjoy the love and respect coming back to you on this special day, for you have more than earned it! Enjoy your Father's Day!
