Today I received an exciting e-mail form my son, Garrett who is on the GW. While out in the Pacific yesterday, their battle group met up with the Reagan and it's battle group. He said it was very cool to see all the ships come up close together. Then they had a hot "fly by" he said must have been close to the sound barrier. The Reagan then pulled up along side the GW for some photo ops before turning around to leave. Everyone was very excited. He will try to send some pics when they get to Perth, Australia. I will upload them as soon as they come in! It must have been very powerful to see and be a part of the strength of the US Navy!

The GW is back out as of today. I got a call from Garrett just befoe they left port. They will be out until late Aug or the first of Sept we think. All is well so far. Due to no internet in his room when he got back he couldn't upload his pics. Well have to wait, possibly when they get to Australia when he can get service again. It was great to hear his voice though before they left.

The USS Geaorge Washington is back in port in Japan for a couple of days before they leave for a much longer tour. Garrett says he is glad to be back on shore for a bit before they go out again, maybe next week! I can't wait to see the pictures he took. I will share when they get in.

Tom glad to have you with us. Evan left on another deployment this week. This is his first trip working on the flight deck and his first email to us was that he was working his tail off. He is an ABE and this trip should make him a man. LOL About the flying thing Paul, I'll be lucky to fly to S.D. much less all the way to Hawaii to catch the cruise. Cindy and I are planning on being there when the Reagan comes home. So you might also have to make a trip to S.D. for a cold one. I'll fly out there once but don't know about twice.

Tom how long has Robert been in? Also I noticed your an engine builder for nascar. We have another member on here that does the same, Howie Frazier. You two might know each other. I just wish the two of you could get together and build my driver an engine. "Jr", it has been a tough year.

Well, the Reagan was suppose to leave for their deployment this morning but due to mechanical trouble they are delayed. They will hopefully be underway sometime tommorow. Now we get to do one last night of talking with our son again. Hoo Yah!

Glad to have everyone in here. Figured we might be able to share info about our kids on carriers. Evan is headed out on his second tour very soon. He is better prepared of what to expect this time. The first time he saw the Reagan is when they landed him on it somewhere overseas. What a way to arrive. He had a tough time adjusting at first because he had no idea of what carrier life was like. Once he learned the system, it got easier. So this time he's actually looking forward to it.

Glad to see this group form. Two days ago my son just shipped out on the USS George Washington from their port in Japan. He is an AW3 Rescue Swimmer on his first tour. He should know soon after his March test if he made E-5 also. We heard possibly in June they get their results. He looking forward to finally doing what he joined up for. Memorial day will celebrate 2 years in to the day! God bless all who have served and God bless the families of those we have lost, especially this weekend.

My son is an ABH on the Truman. He is on TAD until Sept, then will be back on V-1 for thier deploy this fall.
