As much as I hate to say it, there was another one given the boot the other day. This one was a submarine commander. I'm seriously considering writing a letter to my Congressman demanding an investigation into these repeated offenses. As the father of a sailor I think I have the right to expect the highest standards of moral and ethical behavior from the men and women who have command authority over my daughter.

Hang in there, Dave. Tell her no matter what people think, their opinions don't matter. It is her quality and determination which will move her ahead with her honesty. The late UCLA basketball coach John Wooden said, "It isn't what you do, but how you do it." Being a quality person is all that matters, not what others think. If you have a go-get-them recruiter, you might talk with him.

Dave- you have my total support and understanding....I wish there was something I could say or some advice. All I can relate to is something my dad used to preach to me.....that when push came to shove the only opinion of me that mattered was what the guy in the mirror thought. It may sound corny, but truth will win over lies and deceit--- it may take a long time, but truth and honesty triumph.

Theres a subject I dont even want to go in with my daughter being involved with one of these situations. Of course it was her word against his and this was apparantly not the only occasion this piece of crap liked to touch girls and they took his side of the story. Now I have my kid being shunned by the community and being labeled a liar. Now I feel like a complete idiot because I was the one to say "you should really look into the military after graduation" and she has to deal with this garbage on a daily basis.

Is anyone else as alarmed as I am at the recent number of COs dismissed for "inappropriate conduct" involving other naval personnel? Over the past two weeks at least three COs have been fired from their command positions due to "loss of confidence" and have been reassigned to administrative positions.

What the heck is going on out there?

Got the form letter yesterday. Cassandra's note at the end was uplifting. She said she was enjoying things so far, even if she was up 32 hrs the first days. We are taking this as a good sign and praying for it to continue.

Well, bless her for being there. There is always a reason for things, even though "we" aren't necessarily told.

Randy- welcome to the group first of all. When you get a chance you should read back through a bunch of the old posts in the PIR group...a ton of suggestions and the like....be sure to plan on some Chicago-style pizza while you are there...we've got some suggestions. places of losgin- ther are many, but we've had very good reports about Residence Inn...I stayed at Marriott Courtyard twice...I liked it. Also many stayed at Navy Lodge.....

Thanks Chris! We are excited, eager and very proud of her. I spent 30 yrs working for a government agency and understand hurry up and wait. But you still get anxious.

Congratulations, Keith. You and your family will next see a Sailor! Hang in there, it takes a while for things to happen - lots of hurry up and wait - and communications until perhaps the last week are spotty at best. Within the week, you may receive your recruit in a box and perhaps it will have a sheet of paper with penciled in information, such as her mailing address. Remember to write, and often, but also keep in mind they don't get mail just because it arrives but because they've earned it. Our Lady Sailor got 25 minutes per night to study or write, and "sometimes" got to mail out letters on Sundays if the Division did well during the week.
BTW - We have our Sailor home until she leaves for deployment out of San Diego on Aug. 4. She doesn't want to talk "Navy" just wants to catch up on Grey's Anatomy, Lie To Me and a couple other programs she's missed since February 10. LOL!
