Welcome Laron! Have a read of the information which is already around (there is a lot of it) and prepare yourself for an overwhelming sense of pride as your daughter progresses in the next few weeks and months. We're awaiting our daughter, next Monday, and her leave before she reports to San Diego and her shipboard assignment. Her two younger sisters are currently away working and doing pre-college stuff, so we've already warned our Sailor we're going to know who did it if something happens because she will be the only child at home. LOL!

My daughter Corinne is had her last somewhat normal civilian day today, for perhaps a very long time. She leaves in the morning for the MEPs office and then Wednesday for Great Lakes to begin her new way of life. I am excited for her and very proud as well. After all she has told me, I wish I was much younger and could join her in her adventures. :) I am new to the site as she pointed me here less than a week ago. Seems she just found it herself. I am looking forward to learning and sharing as we experience together our daughters find themselves in a whole new way.

Welcome, Keith (and your daughter). The adventure begins. Have a look around here, there is a lot of information as Paul said, and the next nine weeks are going to be stressful, tearful, heartwarming and filled with pride. Hang in there, it is a great experience!

the adventure begins earlier than planned!! Hope you've done your reading in the bootcamp group...there is an awful lot of info there about what to expect and when it will happen.

as yours becomes a sailor, today if officially Kat's last day as a sailor...it is a bittersweet day for me --- her brother still has a couple of years left in his enlistment.

Definitely. Unless things have changed that was encouraged. A lot of people embed the photos in the documents but Holly seemed to enjoy having the prints. Photography is my serious hobby so it was a true labor of love for both of us.

Thanks for the support, guys. I know it will be okay and know she will do well. We're a little different in that she's probably older than most in boot camp, and we went through the whole "empty nest" years ago when we shipped her off to college. So we're not so concerned with the weekly phone calls. Please don't get me wrong, we still miss her terribly, are extremely proud, and can't wait to see what this brings. I do wonder though, will she come out of boot camp and still be my little girl? Or will she be ready to kick her ole mans arse? ;-) I'm kidding, but I do wonder how this will change her. Thanks again, Gents......Tim
