Agree with that Bob!!  It is an amazing ride...ups and downs for sure Anthony but it will make your daughter a stronger person for sure!

Hello All. I'm new to this site. My daughter Tori just left for boot camp this past Monday, 12-2-13. I just received her box yesterday. Now waiting for the form letter.

Bob, what a wonderful month your daughter has had. Congratulations on her being selected for advancement to E-5. I can understand your being a proud poppa, every reason to be. BRAVO ZULU to your daughter for saving a shipmate from serious injury!!!

Great news Jay!  My daughter's had an awesome November too.  She's on deployment with squadron VAW-126 (The Fighting Seahawks) aboard the Harry S Truman.  Early in the month, she was named Seahawk of the Month. Later in the month, she was awarded the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal by Admiral Sweeney for preventing a shipmate from receiving a severe injury on the flight deck.  Today, she made the list to move up to E5.  I'm a very proud poppa... just like the rest of you guys are for your daughters.

I can't agree with Bob more.  This is only the beginning.  My daughter has been in P'cola for schooling for almost a year and a half.  She is finishing up school soon and is awaiting orders.  That has her anxious enough but one by one her friends and classmates that she has been with for a most of her time in the Navy are graduating and moving on for deployment.  That has her feeling sad.  Last night she called me because she needed to talk.  She said she feels OLD.  I could barely contain my laughter since she is only 20 years old.  She is both excited and nervous about being deployed because of all of the responsibility they are given, and at the same time she can't wait to see the world from a Navy ship.  Sometimes I am in awe of her and all she has accomplished so far in the Navy and at the same time I am envious of all the opportunities she has in front of her.  Imagine that...feeling old at 20. LOL

Congrats to your daughter Jason!  (And to you!)  Seems like a very short time ago that we made our way to Great Lakes for our daughter's PIR.  It's been 4 years (and 2 Persian Gulf deployments) since that day but it is still a great memory for us.  The amazing thing is that although she's grown up a lot in the last few weeks, she's just getting started. Good for her!!
