Well my girl is now a Sailor!!! She made the call from Recruit Heaven while eating a snickers bar, best tasting snickers bar she has ever had. Now she is just waiting for her laptop, cell phone and family for the weekend, then off to P-Cola

Hi Tom, it was a great ceremony. I envy you as Holly was G&G. Five minutes in the visitor center was what we got and then she shipped out to P-cola and is waiting to class up. That's OK though, she was so excited to get started I can't help but be happy for her. They'll always be our "Little girls" but they'll never be the same as they were.

Today was my daughter Gretchen's big day!! She is now a United States Sailor!!! We came to Great Lakes to see her graduate. The ceremony was awe inspiring!! We had a great day with our sailor and we are looking forward to spending the weekend with her. Secretary of Defense Gates was in attendance, and yesterday she shook hands with the secretary of the Navy. She was very inspired!! A WOW moment. She leaves for Pensacola wednesday and looks forward to her journey.

Hi Everyone,

We just heard from Kelly in Pensacola A school that she received highest honors for her class. She is being assigned to the AUF 122 Fighter Squandron at Lemoore Naval Air Station on CA. She will be a E3 AON servicing F/A 18E/F fighters. We are so very proud if great accomplishment. Her trainers are recommending her for full officer training so we will see what transpires in the near future for her.

I will keep you all posted. She is expecting to be home August 3 or 4 before going off to Lemoore. Does anyone have any information about the Air Station at Lemoore and what type of activities it squandrons perform? Thanks for all your support and best to everyone today. Tom

Thank you Joe. Yes, I am very proud...and admittedly wrapped as well. It is great that your daughter will get to be close to home for A school. (by the way, I went to HS in OCean Springs, MS). Our son went to A school in Pensacola, but is now stationed out of San diego, so we get to see him a couple of weekends a month (when he comes home to raid the fridge and do his laundry), but it is nice to get to be close to our sailors. Lauren will be attending A school in Monterey, not close enough to see her much.
Good luck to your Brandy and her division on their BS. It is the 'big week' for them...kind of like the final exam. I wish you and your family all the best as well, and thank Brandy for her service.
