Hello...I just joined this site and this group. My daughter was sworn in and left for Great Lakes this Wed (Jul 15). She is going in to become a CTI. I am a Navy vet myself, and my son (her older brother) is currently an IT on board the USS Vandegrift.

I guess I always expected my sons to at least be interested in a military experience or career, since I myself am a thrid gen sailor. Never really thought my daughters would...not really meant as a sexist remark...it is just that the Navy I was in was a much more male oriented experience. But, my daughter decided it was a great move for her and is really glad to be able to serve her country, get the Navy experience and build for her future. And I could not be happier. Now I will sit back and wait for that first letter!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you on the site.

Hi Joe, Hi Tom, looking forward to tomorrow, just wish we had time with Holly but oh well. Holly is going in for ABE- Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment). I live in Colorado so P-cola is not exactly in the neighborhood. I got held over in Miami for 24 hours once though and it was quite enjoyable. I would love to visit her in Pensacola but she won't be there long enough. She does get 14 days of leave after A school for a visit at least.

My daughter Kelly seen in my picture is in Pensacola right now just begining her A-School since PIRing onMay 15th. They have been short of instructors and now training is going full steam ahead. She is an AON(Avionics Ordinance Ariman. Congratulations to you both on raising such wonderful women who have heeded the call to be in the Navy.

Have fun at the PIR. Tom

Hi Joe, I'm at GL right now for Friday's PIR. Like you my daughter Holly is also Grad/Go. Her departure is superquick. 5 minutes for visiting with us and then an immediate flight out to P-Cola for "A" School. She's really champing at the bit to go too. She got bronchitis, was sent to infirmary and missed a bunch of training. She got set back 2 weeks due to illness but still got to keep her A school. 10 weeks for 5 minutes has been painful to say the least. Only dads with daughters understand the relationship between dads and daughters. It's excruciating to see them have a problem and not be able to fix it.

Welcome to those that have recently joined....I feel badly that I have not been as active in the group as I had hoped, but it has been a hectic first half of 2009. I'm re-posting something from late last year:

tell you what...I set up a separate e-mail address for this kind of stuff.....I may need to crop photos so I can download them in a 160 x 160 pixel size.

If anyone has a photo they would like me to try to get into this crazy scheme of mine e-mail it to:

navydadsadmin@cox.net

and I'll see what I can do!

Reminder to all.....in this day and age I need to remind everyone that these have to be in good taste as this is a family website!

for those that wish to have a photo in the Daughter's Hall of Fame, please feel free to send me your photos and I'll eventually get around to posting!

Thanks all!

That is a project I started and get to when I get a chance. Somewhere in a past post is some more info on whatr I was doing and how to get me a photo.

between work, the Tiger Cruise, and NavyDads Admin stuff I haven't done much on this in awhile, but check out the posts and send me a photo one of these days and I'll see what I can do when I get the time
