Jason, those letters are a life link to our kids. Our daughter graduated last Friday and is in Pensacola now. We gave her her phone at the airport before she left, and let me tell you, she's using it. I think in some ways, it's better for them without it since they have to make their own decisions and get through things on their own but when she needs some advice and a push from dad, I'm glad she has it. When is Savannah's PIR?

Got a letter from Savannah yesterday! Man was it good to hear from her again. We actually got a call from her last Saturday. The letter had 3 pages in it, all different letters on different days. Two were from the days they spent on P-Hold, something like 7 days, and then, one was from the night before they started T-Days. She is doing really well. Sounds very good. Passed here DEP and PFA so she has ranked up! Hoo Yah! Said that they have a strong division, Ship 11 Division 366, and they had just gotten their cammies. She was VERY excited about that!

One letter was a little homesick, but we were prepared for that and knew that it was coming. The letter right after that was much more positive and up beat. She's really doing well.  I'm so proud of her.

Man, I miss her. But she's doing well, she's doing good things, she's helping her shipmates, which means she's "getting" what Navy life is about, and I know that God's watching over her better than I ever could. So knowing that, it is well...

Awesome, Ramon Oli.  If you get a chance to do a Tiger Cruise, take it!  That's an incredible experience.

Congratulations to all the new Sailors of last Friday's PIR and congratulations to to Randy B's daughter on her sharp-shooter ribbon!

We recently picked up our daughter from her 2nd Class Midshipman Enlisted Cruise.  She had nothing short of an amazing experience.  Very proud of her, and very proud of our Navy! I hope the lessons learned and examples of commitment and honor help shape her as a leader as she returns to school in a few weeks.

Here's a picture of her at the conn!

We received our "I'm a sailor" call yesterday. PIR is next Friday for us. It's been quite a ride. The hardest part was not being able to check in with her when we wanted to. Had to wait for the calls or letters, and as you know, the calls were few and far between. That being said, the difference in just a few weeks was remarkable. She doesn't feel that she's changed that much, with the exception that she says she can't just say what's on her mind any longer. We hear the changes though.

Got our form letter from Savannah on Friday 080913! Very Excited!! Pretty sure she is in an Integrated Division. Was SOOOO good to hear from her, even tho it wasn't REALLY from her. She put a little 3 word note on the outside of the folder letter, it just read "I love you" with a little heart. But it was enough to send her mom into tears. Annnnnnd, me too :)

I started a discussion on the Boot Camp Group for her Ship/Div if you happen to have a daughter in the same. Look for Ship 11 Div 366 - PIR 092713.

Her rate is STG and from what we can tell, there is one or 2 other STG's at in her PIR class now, and from what we have been able to gather (from my wife LIVING on N4M), there may even be another female STG in her or her sister division.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know we got the form letter. Haven't gotten a call yet, but this early on, I consider that a blessing because that means her status is "still in training" and not being held back.

Praying for all you and your daughters....

Thanks Ramon, I most certainly will keep you updated as to how she's doing. I've heard that parents from other divisions with the same graduation date (at least by my calculations) have gotten their form letters so as the SR's mail went out on Sunday, we are hoping to get ours in the next couple of days!

Dear Jason,

Inspiring story!  My daughter in on the NROTC path and currently a MDN on her "enlisted" cruise for the summer.  Last month, I dropped her off at the airport at 0600 for a an 0745 flight.  Her actual take-off time was 1700 !!  We haven't heard from her since she got underway.

My son is now working on his college applications.  He sounded at least 5 years older yesterday when he got a call from a USAF Major regarding his application to the USAF Academy.  I do not know where my son will be a year from now, but as you mentioned, it will be the exact path the Lord intends.

Godspeed to Savannah at GL.  Please convey our thanks for her service.  Let us know when her graduation comes up.  I would enjoy watching the live feed.  I saw last Friday's graduation in its entirety.  I still get chills.

Cheers,

Ramon
