It seemed like just a few years ago she was eating peas and carrots. Then she loved jumping on my back by surprise...she was getting big or ai was getting old. I never knew graduating from HS could make a parent so proud...and now graduating from Navy boootcamp. A lifer myself...16 yrs so far...I never thought any of my kids would follow in my footsteps. She is much older prettier, and wiser...she even has her Daddy's sarcasm and humor. She is ready...I was always told to give your children roots...then give them wings. We have done that and now we are second guessing our rearing. We are so proud, so eager for her to face the world, find her way and reach for the stars. Its hard, the most difficult thing in the world; watching our little girls be born was such a proud and wonderful moment, and now watching them fight for our freedom. The transformation is amazing. She went from being scared and remorseful to being excited and confident in just 8 short weeks. Tomorrow we see our little Courtney head off to Seabee school. Who would of thought?

The transformation is amazing. A few years ago she was my "little girl"

Now, like so many of our daughters, after PIR and the various schools and a few deployments she is a very competent dedicated rating in the NAVY.

It is an amazing transition, and I love her guts for her dedication and hard work.

Now she can be more of the "boss" than before, and I totally respect her competence.  It's good.

Hi all. My daughter Chelsea called me the other day to say that there is water under the Ronald Reagan again!  Having been in dry dock since January, she and the other sailors are anxious to return to San Diego (from Bremerton, WA).  She is excited to start her deployment, and said the RR is looking great again.  She is awaiting results from her Operations Specialist test, and hopes she did well.  Like you all, I am a proud Navy Dad, and wear my Navy wristband every day to remind me of Chelsea, our other Sailors around the world, and that Freedom Is Not Free!

so let me say, that when Kat was 4 or 5 and playing in her Little Tykes kitchen I could never have imagined her in uniform, on a carrier, in the Persian Gulf helping protect our freedom and those unable to protect themselves....I'm positive many of you share my pride in the fine women they have become

My girl graduated from MC school at Ft Meade two weeks ago and was home for leave the last couple weeks! Was great to have her home, but we had to give her back some time, so we helped her buy a car and she drove to Millington TN over the weekend. Today was her first day at her new command - very excited for her future!

Sorry to hear that TxFritz, but learned many years ago that things usually happen for a reason....and congrat's on the new addition to the fam.

Well I will make my final comment in this group. My daughter has been released by a medical board due to back problems. Her husband is still active so I will stick around the site. Also any day now she will give us a little sailor and my first grand child. I thank you all for the support and a place to use as a sounding board. My prayers are that all the daughters represented here come home safe and sound.
