We bought a couple of the coins they are really cool. I bought one for myself and Seans sister bought one. I would highly recommend getting one if you get the chance.
Terry you might try contacting one of the instructors at the school in San Antonio and see if you can get another, I think that you son can get you the name of one or you might look on the Navy website for a email address to the navy tech school at SA.

I bought one and lost it enroute somehow and somewhere between the hotel and airport upon our return. Not sure how to get another one now that my son is at his duty station and I don't think they have them there. Any ideas out there cuz I'd love to have another one.

For you dads who have or about to have a sailor in S.T. MA "a" School, I recieved a great gift from my sailor who I visited at Norfolk Naval Station this past weekend. He presented me with a beautiful MA Challenge Coin, I have seen a lot of Challenge Coins but this one is awsome.

As I understand it this particular Coin is only available from the School, may I suggest you give your sailors a hint that you would like to have one. You will be proud as hell to carry it in your pocket every day and show it to all your friends.

My son started his training today and is very happy. He got his cell phone and other items he wanted sent to him. Sounds very upbeat.

Terry - thanks. I'll let you know how it goes.

Jim, sure hope that happens for you. The ceremony is really cool and is over soon. If they have their orders, etc and everyone who has them can get their rooms are done and inspected to be let go, he'll be able to hang out with you. You can even take him to your hotel and stay the night like we did but we weren't able to get the same flights on the same day. He arrived right behind us only 2 hours later at the same airport because our son is now stationed only 60 miles from the house. His first 2 weeks are pre-orientation which he's anxious to get over with so he can get on with the real orientation. Your son will have to memorize about 6 pages of orders verbatim just for starters! Good luck!

Heading to Lackland this week to see the kid get his badge! Hopefully he'll get to fly back home with me.
