Justin emails or updates his facebook almost everyday from Bahrain. He said there is no wi-fi in the barricks, but they have a large building where the NEX is that has wi-fi. He uses his laptop. He bought a sim card for his cell phone and calls 1-2 times a week. In all, we communicate with him most days.

Oh, the wi-fi is free, he pays for the sim card.

Kevin,

Tell you son to pack an extra uniform in his carry-on. Delta lost my son's luggage. And be ready for a long trip. Justin flew San Antonio to Norfolk, thru Atlanta. Transferred to NAS Norfolk where the plane broke down and took about 20 hours to repair. Then stops in Spain, Italy and Greece before Bahrain. About 60 hours total...

My son graduated A school at the end of July. He is in Bahrain 2 weeks now. Sailors at his graduation were going everywhere... Texas to Washington, California to Florida, Japan, Greece, Bahrain...etc, etc, etc...

sorry to hear about your son...But that is so good Jon is doing so well...Military life does take some adjustment but it sounds like he is ready for it...you and your son prepared him well...It wont take long and Jon wont be at the bottom of the toem pole...in about 6 months to a year there will be some new guy to take Jon's place at the bottom...Jason wasnt impressed with the food at GL either...He said it had a weird taste oh well he got over it...

Cindy,

I just got off the phone with Jon about a 1/2 an hour ago. I was so excited I foregot to ask him what test he did so well on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He sounded great and has both feet on the ground, and he understands and accepts the "military way of life"......... he is a low man on the totem pole at this point in his career.

He said he did extremely well with the 9mm and shot gun. He has grown up with guns in his life, so the weapons part of "A" school did not concern me. Adjusting to miltary life was my concern.

I do not want to mislead you, Jon is my Grandson, his Dad, my son, passed away last Dec.

His Navy enlistement was all planned, he was a DEP, before his dad passed.

Jon said the food was greatly improved over Great Lakes.

It was a great conversation, thank god.

Bob
