thats good that he scored perfect....Just make sure that when your son goes to MA school that he studies real hard and passes all his tests...Jason said he knows of a few people that didnt pass and they got changed to a different job for the Navy....When you son passes MA school then he gets Pinned....From what Jason says your not an offical MA till you pass MA school...i have friends on Navymom site and 2-3 of them said there kids didnt pass and they had to change jobs...So tell Jon to study hard and do well when he has to take his tests...

Thanx for the info.
So far (3 weeks) "A" school is going okay. Jon scored 100 in a test but forgot to say what the test was, excited guess.

im not real good in navy lingo...(im an army brat) he is an E-5 i think thats is petty officer 2nd class...or MA2 he has mention that...well lets see when he first got in the Navy he was on the USS NASSAU for a little over a year...My hubby and youngest son got to do a Tiger cruise when his ship got back from being deployed...He did his MA school in SA...then he got sent to Suda Bay greece for a year and now he is station in Charleston for the last 2 years...I guess he got to where he is by lots of hard work plus he also is taking college classes so that he can get his degree in ...He says if he gets out he wants Homeland security or investagations that type of stuff...he loves being a police officer but like any job you have good days and bad days...

Byron,

Thanks for the info.. He will look up Justin, he recognized his picture from A school. Once again thanks for the info and any more you get from Justin in the next week would be appreciated.

Kevin,

My son is there now – just spoke to him and he just completed his first week of training. He really likes it so far, but he does not yet know what is assignment will be. He has taken more tests for quals (like a swim test to qual for Harbor Patrol). I believe he is on the range next week.

He emails us daily and has called 4 times already! He said the food is okay, barracks are nice, bit like a bomb shelter. Said the MA’s are very serious there – no clowning around. Today, they were working outside and heard a loud blast. They all gathered up against the walls – turns out it was some type of IED off base – he heard someone blew-up a dumpster(?). I’m sure your son will see a lot and have a lot of stories.

Best of luck to him – tell him to look up my kid…Justin. He is the youngest one going through the training at present.

My son Kevin leaves home tommorow for another week at Lacklund then off to Bahrain. If anybody has some info on what to expect please pass it on.
Thanks

My son, Justin, has been in Bahrain for the past 5 days. It took him over 60 hours to get there from San Antonio (stops in Atlanta, Norfolk, Italy, Greece & Spain). Lesson learned – always carry a uniform in your carry-on…Delta lost his luggage at one stage of the flight – but it caught up to him!

He loves it there so far – the MA’s go through a 3 week “academy” to further advance their training and there are additional quals to get special teams or jobs. Good news is, if you son or daughter goes there, they have great internet access, sat phones and they can buy a sim card for their cell phone. He has called us 3 times already and emailed everyday!

I'm new to the group, my daughter just signed-up for the Delayed Entry Program and has selected MA as her career field. I have been a Reserve Deputy for 6 years now and I'm very proud of her. She may not actually head off to Boot for another year, but she has taken the first step. As a side note, my son is in his 3rd week of Boot for the Army as an Infantry soldier, and my son-in-law will be returning from Iraq next week in the Marine Corp. A lot of variety, but we're proud of them all!
