Congrats to Class 289! Back from the Island. Complete BUD/S this Friday. Hoo Yah!
I really appreciate the info GP; bought the book last night.
L Dave T- The information given is correct. But if his PIR is 10/14 then he will first report to pre-BUDS in GL. This is where the BUD/s class will be formed. They will go to classes and get conditioning. The timeline is anyones guess. It can vary from 4 -10 weeks. But since there are not winter BUD/s then he may be there for a while. At the end of prebuds they all must pass the minimal qualifing tests/time to advance to BO (BUD/s orientation- yes it is 3 weeks) This is in Coronado. They get more conditioning & safety training & its considerably harder than Pre-BUD/s. At the end of BO; they test again and the weeding continues. They only take a certain # of guys into BUD/s phase 1 & this portion is about 7 weeks. If the guy makes it then he will move into phase 2, etc...Definately Warrior Elite should be in your personal library if you have a son entering this quest. There are many other books as well that touch on the training too.
L Dave T,
Best of luck to you & your son. it's quite a ride! You can Google "Navy SEALs Bud/s" & a lot of info pops up. Keep us up to date:
Jack
Thanks for the info gents & the luck; and, I will go buy the book. As a Sat guy didn't foray into the snakeaters relm much - my old chief was UDT - his fault, initally got me into this mess. Too many cold beers - and yes he too was also Irish. Headed for PIR 14Oct - thanks again for all the help/info.
