L Dave T --Suggest you read "The Warrior Elite" by Dick Couch, a retired Navy Captain and former Seal.  It is a bit dated (The two weeks of Indoc have been replaced with 3 weeks of Orientation, referred to now as BO) but an excellent insight into what's on the horizon for your son. --It's a real eye opener.

L Dave T .BUDS consists of three phases. each phase is 6 to 8 weeks depending on phase and holidays, also before starting phase 1 your son should have about two weeks of In-doc. You can also go to seal swcc.com and see videos of the things your son will be doing when he gets there. good luck to your son

BUD/S is divided into 3 Phases, each taking about 2 months.  So figure about 6 months total for BUD/S (barring injury).

My son spent 10 weeks in pre-BUD/s. It was considerably less for the 2nd PIR class. They merged two PIR classes. This was a summer session. I dont think anymore Pre-BUD/s classes will start BO until next Feb.

L Dave T, the last I heard the next BUD/S Class will be about Feb. 2012.
