Hospital Corpsman (HM) is a rating in the United States Navy that is most frequently known to the general public in their seconded role cross-services— as the equivalent of an army medic in the US Marine Corps out among the combat units in the field. Hospital Corpsman are members of the Navy's Hospital Corps, and are frequently the only medical care-givers available in many fleet or marine units on extended deployment. Hospital Corpsman serve as enlisted medical specialists for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The Hospital Corpsman serves in a wide variety of capacities and locations, including shore establishments such as naval hospitals and clinics, aboard ships as the primary medical caregivers for Sailors while underway, or with Marine Corps units.

Our sons and daughters who have choosen this path are very special people. The loss of any one of them is tremendous. I feel for you and your family. May God be with you all.
Jack; I have been thinking of you and your family since I heard the news. My youngest daughter is a corpsman currently stationed at the hospital in yakuska japan. Every day I pray for her and all the men and women in our armed services. You have my heartfelt wishes and sympathy. I live in Connecticut but if there is anyway I could help you or your family please let me know.

too many of our children haven fallen. my hope and prayer for you and your loved one's is that almighty god will give your heart some peace. i cry while i write this as i too have cried and worried as my son is a corpsman and served with the Marines in IRAQ. HE MADE IT BACK, BUT MY TEARS STILL FLOWED. Please know that these men and women would have this no other way. they all are hero's. please find some peace and remember god is now in control.

So sorry to hear this tragic news Jack. Which sailor - Chris or Clayton? God Bless them both and God Speed to the lost.
