I ship to bootcamp early April and after that will be in San Antonio for A School. When i think of SA i picture tumbleweeds and cowboys with dusty streets. lol. not really looking forward to it. ive read that once we get the SA it may be a little while before we class up. does anyone know what we do in the mean time?? Thanks!

Jim, I certainly will.  Thanks for your offer of assistance but mostly for your service to our country.  I will most surely have questions in the future.

George, Thanks for the info on Fort Sam.  I will definitely check it out.  Your son may have made acquaintances with mine.  My son said that his class will start around March 15th.

Becky, we got our son about 11:30 the morning of PIR and he had to be back at his ship around 7pm.  He left the base at 0100 the next morning for the airport and his 0530 flight.  I was waiting at the airport, as were about 80-100 other parents, and got to spend almost another 2 hours with him.  I would have stayed longer but had a 13 hour drive to stay awake for.  Personally speaking, those hours in Great Lakes and the two at the airport were some of the best hours of my life. I agree with Allen in that I am still smiling and so proud of my son.  Fair winds and following seas for you and your SR.

George if you get on Fort Sam Houstons website there are links for navy corpsman. It gives alot of useful info. It details  the steps and training sites for the different types of corpsman. My son troy graduated 2/17 and is now in San Antonio. He called and said it may be a month before A school starts.

Good morning gentlemen.  My son's PIR was 2-3 and he is currently in San Antonio awaiting the start of "A" school.  I am now looking forward to learning as much as I can about Navy Corpsman.  Hoo-Yah!
