Hi David,
Oh, yes, Skype is the best thing since sliced bread.
I can understand the feelings going around. Since my grandson's tatoo fling, I have gathered several books on the subject. A lot pertain to amerindian spiritual themes, they are very artfull, the one's I have, (in my books), are mainly Haida, north/west pacific coast.
We are from belgian extraction, (flemish), but are canadians for over 40 years now. I am a retired naval officer and yes I was part of the "wooden navy", (2 layers of 2" mahogany planking), for the hull of a coastal minesweeper.
Keep on "Skyping"
Jean-Claude,
That's great news. We Skyped with our son yesterday for his mom's birthday. Of course she cried. Then he said he was going to get another tatoo, to which I cried. He said this one will be a Cherokee rose (we are Cherokee). It will be a while before we see him again. Probably not until next Christmas. But thank goodness for Skype. Enjoy you grandson's visit.
David & Kim, My son's PIR was 1-27-2012. He had to take a Navy bus to O'Hare at 3AM the next morning for a 10AM flight to San Antonio. But, that is just his experience. I understand that sometimes sailors also fly from Midway or Milwaukee.
Our sons PIR date is 3/30/12. Do the Corpsman fly out of any particular airport the next day? I would like to try and schedule our flight into the same airport so we can give him items that he can take with him. Thanks.
Hello David,
Big surprise, the grandson showed up unannounced in Texas on a 2 week leave to the surprise of his dad, (my son). Although nothing is sure with the Navy, he says that the "Loveboat" will sail in April this year.
The sailor has just finished his TCCC
Thanks for the info! Bless you all!
Thanks much! He's very proud of them, as I am of him. It's generational too. When I was a corpsman, one of my duties in the 70's was removing them. (Derm Tech).
