Devin hated going to the Dr because he was always afraid he was going to get a shot! Now he's so excited about giving shots and starting IV's and just learning all the procedures! I asked who he was! lol! Then he came home, made his bed and cleared the table, rinsed his dishes, and loaded the dishwasher! All the while we were talking about what he's been doing! I was so sure they'd sent me someone else's son!! he was worried about getting back to base so he could get

Mark I really like the Lab (USN) story! JoAn, have to laugh for these kids are truly learning the skill of cross training and multi tasking. A few months/yrs ago , if you were to ask them take out the garbage and shut off the tv at the same time (did you do your HW?), their mainframe would crash. Now that they are under new management gee it is amazing how much data (information) they can process.

Kevin,
The Marines are actually are attached to the Navy to some degree and are like distant cousins. As being a MC you have the best of both worlds - You get paid by the USN and able to live and hang with the Corps. However, once our sons adopt the Corps Values they will alway live and think like a Marine.

My son, Pat just graduated from Field Mecial Training at Camp Lejeune. The trainin really "leaned" him up. Pat has been in the fleet and was a RP. He now is getting a very different look at the Navy and what beng a HM is all about.
I am excited about seeing him for the holidays to better understand his wok and his day to day duties while at CL.
Prayers to all of who sere our country.

So this would be more of a combined A school with addt other technical training? Devin texted and said he finished his 3 day TCCC today. He's only just beginning but amazed at what training they go thru. But like I tell them at work. Knowledge and experience is something no one can ever take from you. Learn all you can. Do what you can. And have some fun along the way. You never know when that little knowledge will come in handy! But what and how much these guys learn is still pretty amazing! And a testament to what you say about passing on what you know because a lot must be built on past experiences in each branch.

Thanks Randall! It's not often I'm told I have great questions. =) It's interesting as Morgan has yet to deal with life and death, yet there are those he graduated FMTB with that has seen it multiple times. Guess it's all where you go. Maybe, since he assigned to a BAS, he won't deal with that alot. I don't know. I just pray that all these corpsman I know about, which is becoming quite a large number, will all be safe.

Dixie ~ Do you need a room mate during the winter months! Idaho is nothing compared to where you are, but I do hate the cold and snow.

Purple. I couldn't be happier! Will be interesting to know what the guys say when they have to start wearing it. Could you possibly answer a question for me. When this new training camp opens up will those already a corpsman go there for extra training or additional training when and if needed? Also, I'm guessing those that are assigned FMTB will still go to CP or CL. Correct?

Devin joined at 21. That's some of the things that confirmed his decision. He had had it on his mind since high school but just watching the kids around him in our small town do nothing, go nowhere, and get into trouble. He wanted to learn something and do something. Going through Corps school has been a plus to him. He's found something he likes to learn about. For me, like you Randy, glad to see my son do the best decision.

I'd heard something about the combined school. Sounds like it has plus to it. But upon grad, would they just be all branches or separate to their respective branches? Would they go through basics at navy, army, or air first like now?
