Jay ~ Morgan said it was much easier than he thought it would be. The worst part, for him, was keeping his knees bent while standing at attention for 3 hrs or so. He's a gymnast, so from the time he was 2, he has always locked his knees. He also said, if he knew he would have the RC's that he had, he'd enjoy himself a lot more. Evidently, he had two great ones. I will contact your wife on N4M's.

Mark ~ Is your son an actual Optician? If so, that's cool. Wish I had one in our family. I have a chiropractor, massage therapist, doc, and a wanna be when he goes to college psychologist. An Optician would be great as most of us wear glasses or contacts!

Jay ~ Welcome to the Navy! The hard part is now, the lack of communication for the next two weeks. Have your wife get on here and join the Navy Mom's group if she needs to! We'll help her all we can.

Mark ~ How cool and awesome is that! I hope your son had his picture taken with him. What an honor for him.

Richard ~ I'm surprised to hear there are no FMTB openings. Maybe in October, when the Navy gets their budget for the upcoming year, he'll have a chance to apply. Why is it that every sailor I've heard about can't wait to get out of GL?! Must be the water or something. heehee.

Hey everyone, it has been a while since I posted so I thought I would give an update on my son's status. Well, he is almost done with his A-school and got his orders. He will be heading to Charleston NC to a medical clinic at Charleston NWS. He has done very well in A-school keeping his GPA around 90%. He really wanted to head to the northwest but there were no openings up there. No FTMB assignment yet, I guess he will do his time in the clinic first before attending, He is really looking forward to getting out of Great Lakes and getting down to SC. Hope everyone has a great 4th and stay safe.

My Step-son was sworn in today 06/26/2009 due to a weight issue. He was 4Lbs under weight. MESP postponed his deployment. The vavy placed in a waiver, and was pushed through the Same day, but MEPS failed to communicate to the Navy. Got to love it. Its all good. Should be in Great lakes by tonight.

JoAn ~ Hello! When was the Corpsman Ball? I know some of the corpsman from Camp Pendleton left the end of May for Okinawa. I can ask on the Camp Pendleton Group on N4M's and see. I haven't read anything from that mom since FMTB graduation. N4M's has a Japan group, maybe one of those mom's could tell you. However, don't leave Navy Dad's for N4M's. This is an awesome site as well. I encourage you to be a member of both!

Hi Jay ~ Welcome and what a journey your step-son is about to take. Tell your wife she's about ready to enter her own roller coaster journey and that we're here for her if she needs us. Good thing you got the guys to chat with!
