Navy Corpsman Description and Links

Hospital Corpsman (HM) is a rating in the United States Navy that is most frequently known to the general public in their seconded role cross-services— as the equivalent of an army medic in the US Marine Corps out among the combat units in the field. Hospital Corpsman are members of the Navy's Hospital Corps, and are frequently the only medical care-givers available in many fleet or marine units on extended deployment. Hospital Corpsman serve as enlisted medical specialists for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The Hospital Corpsman serves in a wide variety of capacities and locations, including shore establishments such as naval hospitals and clinics, aboard ships as the primary medical caregivers for Sailors while underway, or with Marine Corps units.

David, my son has been in the 29 Palms hospital for the last 2 1/2 yrs.  I know what you mean.   It's been very nice knowing he was working there but he will be moving in Aug to the 3rd CEB.   It's been a good working place for him at the hospital there.  congrats to your son!

My son got orders today. He's headed to 29 Palms to work in the hospital for the next 2 years. I know he'd rather be assigned to a combat unit somewhere but I can't help but feel better that he's not being shot at.

Our son will join your son in FMTB at CP in late April. Maybe they will meet each other. Glad to hear your son did well in A-school. Thank him for serving our Nation.

Thank you Frank ! I am very proud of him,he graduated with distinction, which I am also proud of,even though I would have been proud either way :D He s i going 1st Mar Div, Fmtb training next challenge in CP.

Hi everyone,haven´t posted for a while. I just have to brag a little,since  I am not able to be there.My son is graduating corpsman school today and God knows I am there in heart ! Trying to visualize him at that moment =} Great job my son,I am extremely proud of you ! I know most of you here have sons or daughters already serving and have come further along,and I can imagine how proud you are of them,they are all amazing people,with all they have to encounter,and what they have been through .May God keep them all safe and sound !
