Hello gents,  Name here is Bill, NX9P.  QTH is 25 miles west of RTC Great Lakes.

Jeff welcomed me a few days ago.  Thanks.  To answer your question, I enjoy HF.  Rig is an Elecraft K2/100 with all the bells and whistles installed.  Ant is a S9v43 vertical.

I enjoy building equipment. Current project is a 1kW Solid State HF-6m amp based on the BLF188XR. I've been licensed since 1991, originally KC4WVL.

Former ABE3(AW), USN(vet), 1980 - 1991

Perhaps I should try echolinking a repeater close by K9JAJ again. Last time I tried the audio was horrible. That was in 2013 while I waited for watch on Naval Base Point Loma.

NX9P de KC7JQH There are hams that show up here from time to time.  This is a pretty quiet channel.

NX9P checking in.  My son, Nathan (KC9OCE), is just finishing up basic and will be going to BESS afterwards, followed by SECF.

I am still around. Albeit I am running in and out on workups. My son is enjoying his shore duty here in San Diego.

LOL. I think I know which one she's one. There will always be a new bell or whistle to get us excited over a new radio.

You should do fine any of those places. My daughters ship is changing home ports from Norfolk to San Diego in 2015 and she is a Ham as well, but I need more radios like I need a hole in the head! It would be tempting to have her get me something new though!

Definitely a West Coast Sailor.

;) I'll be checking out Singapore and HK while on deployment if we pull into those ports. I don't know that I'd get a chance at Akihabra (a Tokyo suburb). Definitely going to keep my eyes open.

If your a west packer you can wait until your in Japan or some place around there and get the radio at some very inexpensive prices. It might be worth the wait! I was out of Norfolk all my haze gray underway days!

No doubt! Just gotta find where I can pull that thousand from. I'll worry more about that part once I return to San Diego and get settled aboard the ship.
