How important that 30 seconds is!! I actually missed my son's call and he left a message. . .I was so bummed I missed it and he sounded bummed I wasn't home. I am so glad you were there to receive the call, you may get another call a few weeks down the road, depends on how his division is doing - if they are doing good they get rewarded usually with a call home :). I also missed that call to :( . If you have a cell phone tell Coty to call it if he gets to call again so you won't miss it. Well it sounds like Coty is doing good and sounds like you have a good support group for you! God Bless, Michele

Yup we are going in 3 ways on the residence inn suites. My dad, Cotys dad, me and my daughter.
Coty finally got to make the 30 second call last night he is doing well. He is in Div 039 USS Kearsarge. No PIR date yet. He is going for Aviation Mechanic so he will be going to Pensicola, FL for school.

Welcome Jenene :). It is great to have you and look forward to learning more about your sailor. That is a great idea to split the costs, I did the same thing with my ex's parents and it worked out great! We came from two different directions but shared a big Family Suite at the hotel which saved us both about $20-$50 a night! God Bless, Michele :)

Hello all - I found the Navy for Moms website, but then Coty's dad said he found this one. We have been seperated since he was 1 years old. I thought it would be good for us both to be on same website to help with learning about everything our son is going thru, and for planning PIR. So far we plan to drive together and split the costs.

Welcome to our group Robert! Great to have you and your daughter in the ranks :). Paul explained it well and I would have to say PIR doesn't give you strength to contain your tears of joy and pride, that is a good thing! Look forward to getting to know you and your daughter as she is embarking on one of the most important things she will ever do in her life - serve our great country :). God Bless, Michele

PIR ! Pass In Review - it is the offical "graduation" ceremony that marks a recruit becoming a sailor. No matter what you may read and be told about PIR, going through that experience with your son or daughter in there is the most unbelievable feeling in the world....ask Craig as his Conner had had PIR last friday and his daughter Meagan has her PIR in about 3 weeks or so.

When you see your daughter stand at attention and recite the Sailor's Creed with a thousand other sons and duaghters you'll have trears running down your cheeks!! Paul

Hey all I haven't heard from some of you in awhile! How are the sailors doing? I know we had some recent PIR's and now that we can talk to our sailors more we forget to come here and update :). Please let us know how you are doing and what the next steps your sailor is going to be experiencing. God Bless, Michele :)

Hi all - I'm not doing so well :(. My son and I talked last night and he was skipping around the subject of his orders. Just now I got a call from my ex-husband confirming that Wes is going to Iraq before Christmas! He isn't even graduated A-school yet, he is due to graduate on Halloween. Anyways I thought I still had more time because his rating does C-school too but I guess not or he will be doing it while in Iraq? My son was making me believe last night that he would be going to Virginia or S. Carolina for his C-school, briefly mentioned Iraq like he wouldn't go there for several months yet. . . .I wish I could be strong right now but I am scared to death for him. I guess this is the sacrifice, I only hope it ends well !

Thank you so much for the explaination :). It sounds like a good time and something to look forward to as a sailor. My son doesn't tell me a lot of things so I depend on this site to know what things he will/might experience. I think I am enjoying the journey more than my son lol. I guess he has the hard work part that can dampen the fun hehe. Glad your sailors are all doing well.
