Help is on the way, Jeff.

ZKL means operating normally. It is part of the internationally recognized "Q" and "Z" signals that are used by military CW and RTTY operators. The publication listing these codes is the Allied Communications Publication (ACP) 131.

For those with ITs in the family, these codes are known to show up in the advancement exam.

As of late, I'm still helping a lot of new hams get their feet and start up their stations.

No, they are still dusty! However, I got my city to agree to let me put my 2m VHF repeater on one of our water towers! I provide a VHF master 3 repeater to our PD as backup to the 800 system free of charge so I'm getting this for my volunteer work! I also do the programming of the VHF radios as need be free of charge as well.
I have found that 2m is my favored band, but I can see my self getting back on HF someday when I get everything done around here, like all the junk gone from the garage, the project I've been doing over the last three years and now seeing light at the end! I was one of those guys that could no say no when someone said "bob, I don't need this anymore but hate to junk it, would you like it"? I'm now getting rid of it all! I've got a two and a half car garage and a 24x17 foot addition that is now looking like it has room for the this that belongs in there, like the truck and other riding toys, and my tools and welders!

I'm good on any band except 6 and 160 and Wed nights would be best for me! I would need a heads up as I don't turn HF on much so I would need to do some tuning.

Congrats Jeff! Good job! Now you will be ready to help me maintain my repeaters and tune my duplexers when needed! I have all the equipment I just don't want to have to do all the work all the time, Hi, Hi.

Best of luck on to extra class test and Chris best of luck on the test as well! Being a Ham can take you all over the world without leaving the house! I have been a Ham (General class) since 1999 and have love rag chewing the best. I like to talk to people that live it places that I have been to when I was in the Navy back in 1978-1982 (the good OLD DAYS) lol. The call is KC0FMI hope to hear you on the bands soon.
