At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

USS AMERICA arrives in San Francisco | San Francisco Fleet Week 2014

Cpl. Ricardo Hurtado

Marines and sailors with I Marine Expeditionary Force stand across the flight deck of the USS America (LHA-6) as it enters the San Francisco Bay Area, Oct. 6, for the start of San Francisco Fleet Week 2014. The Marines will showcase military capabilities during SFFW14. The event focuses on interoperability training between civil and military agencies to improve cooperation and coordination, as well as increase readiness through a range of humanitarian assistance operations. Hi All - Happy First Day of Fall!

Had a great time in San Diego at Fleet Week.  Spent a lot of time on the Nimitz - got to meet the Commanding Officer - Capt. Jeff Ruth.  He has been through the nuke program (when he was 42!).  He saw my hubby's hat that he was wearing (say's NNPTC Power School) and came over to speak with us.  Very nice man.  Some interesting stories he shared.  Also met a nuke chief that we spent over an hour talking to....he answered any question that hubby & I had and was just a pleasure to speak to.....put my mind to ease a bit about what to expect when sailor hits the fleet ;-).  Also toured the USS Somerset which is named in honor of the passengers & crew of United Flight 93 that crashed on 9/11 in PA.  It is an amphibious transport dock.  Very emotional... Overall we had a great time - if you ever get the opportunity to go to Fleet Week I highly recommend it.

Didn't get a lot of pictures, but here's a few (not the best quality with my phone!)
