At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

But one thing, we are all truly Proud Californians.  It's great to have Stephen and Gary join the group.  As I told the group last month, my son has been assigned to CVN-68. I was down in Costa Mesa for 3 days for work, and last night my son and daughter-inlaw drove up from San Diego with my grandaughter to meet me for dinner.  Although John doesn't report to the Nimitz up in Washington until after the first of the year, the ship is currently in San Diego and he was very excited to see her for the first time.  He's gone aboard her a couple times already and is looking forward to his first deployment.  Hopefully I'll get to do a Tiger Cruise with him.  Earlier this year she did a Tiger Cruise from Pearl Harbor to San Francisco.  While I was driving back to Woodland early this morning, they were moving the Endeavour from the hanger at LAX to the California Science Center.  Unfortunately, they hadn't quite got her to the 405 when I passed LAX, so I didn't get to see her up close.  So thanks to Paul for the cool video

Hello everyone, my Son Gerrett is attached to a fighter squadron aboard the Truman as an IT, & my Daughter-in-law, Vanessa works w/in NCIS. They live in Virginia Beach, Va. I-on the other hand-live here on the central coast of Calif. in Atascadero. I "stumbled" across this site, & thought it would be a good way to stay/be involved w/ my kid's Navy lives. Needless to say-as I'm sure all of you are-I'm very proud of both them. Thanks for having me aboard. Gary

BZ to your son John! That's great news...

We got a call from our son John today.  He is in his last several weeks of C School for FC.  Today he got verbal orders for his ship assignment for after he completes C School.  He will be reporting to the USS Nimitz (CVN 68).  We are very excited for him.  NS Everett is only about 230 miles farther from Woodland than San Diego is, so his family (including our Grandaughter) will still be fairly close.
