- I was civilian Journeyman Aircraft Structural Mechanic Stationed at the US Naval Aviation Depot Alameda in 1987. Worked mainly on the A-6 Intruder and various AC as needed. 1989 left as a mech and got into the Non Destructive Inspection (NDI or NDT). And was asigned to the Landing Gear & Engine Division. 1993 was caught in the Base Closure/RIF (Reduction in Force). I was picked up by US Naval Avoation Depot North Island. In 2000 I was granted Medical Retirement an my daughter was born in Feb 2001. I've Mr. Mom to my daughter from the day she was born til the day her mother anI dropped her off at the Navy Recruitors Office June 26th 2019. To be shipped out to Bootcamp.

- I was trying to find out we're is "C" for Optometry? My daughter said it was in Yorktown, Virginia. So I trying to search for it. To find out what base it was on. So I can make preparations to visit her sometime next year. Since ad we can not afford to see her graduate in San Antonio, Texas so we can see her graduate in June.

After completion of A school, corpsmen may go directly to Fleet, or to medical treatment facilities (hospitals or clinics), or to Field Medical Training Battalion for eight weeks of additional training with Marines; or to C School.Within the HM rating there are 38 occupational specialties which require further technical training via C-schools. Most specialty training is long and intense; many are at least one year in length. Some of the most demanding specialties, such as independent duty corpsmen, go through a series of schools as their career progresses. One of the specialties - Mortician - requires civilian licensing prior to entry into the Navy.
The diversity of the HM rating is evident with these Navy Enlisted Classifications (NECs).

- Welcome to NavyDads Randall! When my daughter enlisted in 2005 and left for RTC, I had virtually no knowledge of Navy life or how the Navy did things. By the time her PIR rolled around, I was starting to get the hang of things and understand some of the language and abbreviations, but still felt like a fish out of water when dealing with most topics concerning the US Navy. When my son enlisted and left for Great Lakes in 2007, I got serious about trying to learn as much as possible about the Navy. Now, several years into my journey, I’m blessed to say I have two sailors in the family - My daughter Kat is now a Navy veteran and was stationed on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) as a Mass Communications Specialist (MC3). My son Eric (AM1) did two cruises on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), was attached to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 37 (HSM-37) in Hawaii, was attached to VAW-125 ("The Tigertails") stationed at Iwakuni, Japan, and is currenlty stationed in Pensacola where he is an instructor in A-School. If NavyDads were around in those early days it would have made my first days as a Navy parent much easier!

My son Stephen was an AWO2 in the P-3 community. However, after 6 years of service, he was medically discharged in July of 2014. We are so proud of our son and his service to our country, as you will also burst with pride of your child! This is the place to brag!
