Scott,
Yes, Adak was a place to live and work. Jimmy is a Rock Baby (He was born on Adak) and we were out there for 4 yrs.
Since your son's future wife is a civ type (Future Dependent), it is suggested that he speak with Family Readiness. I would also speak with the JAG for all the legal items that are required for when are married. I am firm believer in the sacrament of marriage; however, things happen and one must protect one self and their off spring. He should also contact personnel and make sure his records reflect his status change, so when he calls for order they will hopefully give him orders that allow his wife to join him. Otherwise if they are not aware of it, there is possibility of her of being forced to remain behind or delayed. All and all you are very lucky to add a daughter to your family. Although, I hope she understands that being a sailor’s wife is lot of sacrifice and one has to strong and supportive to your son. She has to be there for him, as well as, the needs of the USN 24/7. Thank you!

Scott-- Be sure to check out the Corpsmen Dads group-

And you are right...I am always amazed at how small the world really is and the coincidental meetings that occur. We as a species are far more interconnected than we realize!

Welcome to NavyDads Scott! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is almost two months into a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Scott this is a great place to brag about your sailors as well! So join in and let us know how Terrence and Carlton are doing! Best Regards- Paul

Scott, Welcome Aboard!. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your sons for their service for me and thanks again for joining. Sincerely, EG
