After 9.5 months of pregnancy + an additional 21 years, my wife and I have a Sailor! We got the call today (Div 320). Our tickets to Chicago were not bought in vain! Hope to see everyone at the meet & greet on Thursday.

My son commented that he had been issued an iPad during boot camp, and that they were going to allow them to use email! I told my wife that I'd believe it when I saw it - of course the very next Sunday I got a text from my son asking which email account we wanted to receive our communications on. Hmmm, we were able to exchange a few emails before the privileges were over. He told us that he would probably get to do this every Sunday. Well, his PIR is this Friday, and needless to say we…

My son gets a second call. I was travelling back from a business trip and was anxiously awaiting his call before I boarded my connecting flight. Shortly after I was seated, he called! Since I was wearing bluetooth headphones, I tried to set down my phone...AND HUNG UP ON HIM! about 45 seconds later he tried calling back as I was manipulating my phone between screens - as his call came in, I hit the deny button. Luckily, he was able to get my wife on her lunch hour and was able to talk…

Funny story...well, at least now it is! My son called after 3 weeks at boot camp. I was home, looked at the number, and figured it was a telemarketer so I didn't answer. Refused a second call from the same number (persistent SOB). Went and walked the dog and discovered that I had voicemail. Of course, it was my son who had been trying to call!
Even better, my wife was working and couldn't receive his attempts to contact her either - poor kid, a total washout!

Looking for parents of some of my Son's shipmates. Recieved a call from my Son on Saturday morning. He is very tired but sounds like he is doing well. He said he is averageing around three hours of sleep per day. Looking forward to hearing from some of the other parents out there.

I purchased a gift for the grandson; stationed in Sicily. I found what I needed at Staples: they don't do FPO. I used AMAZON, it's perfect. The gift was cheaper than Staples & no tax or no shipping or handling.

Here is a question for the experienced Dads. Upon boot camp graduation, will my son be permitted to leave post for dinner with the family? How many hours is he permitted post graduation?

My sincere thanks and appreciation to the admin team of NavyDads.com! The information provided was critical in my preparation to visit my son's PIR last week. With all the rules and regulations involved in getting on base and seated it was very stressful. I couldn't imagine trying to navigate the entire process on my own. From helping to understand the life of a recruit during boot camp, how to communicate with them, promoting Sarge's meet and great (brilliant), etc, this site and all…

So proud of our U.S. Navy Sailor! Got to talk to him for over an hour last Friday after Battle Stations was over, he sounds good and is excited to move on to the next phase of his training. Was awesome to know I was talking to a sailor and not a recruit anymore. Can't wait until this Friday when we get to see our son graduate and then we get to spend time with him both Saturday and Sunday.
For those with kids just staring all I can say don't blink, boot camp went by in a flash!

We got our call from boot camp from our son last Sunday evening, the 4 week call actually came in about 3 weeks, I saw the number was from Illinois and almost didn't answer but then realized what I was doing and it was him! We got to talk for about 15-20 minutes. It was great to hear his voice and to hear how well he is settling in to Navy life. He said he likes his Chiefs and Petty Officers and has made some friends in his unit, some he said already feel like brothers. The yelling and the…
