My son is in SHIP 2 DIV 912, he arrived at RTC on 12/8/2010, with a PIR date of February 11 2011.
Thought I would start this and see if anyone else has a recruit in that division or with the same PIR date. We live about 2 hours from the base so at the very least I could keep up updated on the weather.

My daughter and my wife both got letters today, our first real contact since the "I'm here" call. Sounds like he likes it, food is good and he's made firends. His division, 912 will be doing stuff at upcoming PIR ceremonies, rifle drill team and opening doors and such. He said his RDC's and the Chief don't yell that much and they are getting enough sleep but can't wait to get a real bed. He passed PT test with out any problem and feels he is doing well.
Timothy, thanks for starting this discussion.
My son is also in Ship 02 Div 912. We received our first letters on 12/30, two envelopes with writings from several days. I think it’s the most writing I’ve seen him done, other than for school. It was interesting to read from the beginning (12/12) to the end (12/25). He says that Div 912 is one of the only all male divisions. He said the RDC’s in his division have a reputation for winning best division awards, because they train at the Navy SEAL level. He didn’t get into how he got the 900 division, but he is physically fit and studied during DEP on the Navy “stuff”, so maybe being ahead of the curve gets them in. My understanding is they do all the regular RTC training, plus their performance division training, so don't have extra time to catch up on training.
Good luck to all the recruits.
Dana,
That's encouraging news. His recruiter told him she wished he would get into an all male
division, she said the girls always talk to much and get the whole
division in trouble. I think my son would be happier with a
more physically
demanding training as well.
Keep me posted if you get more news,
Tim
My son also got to call his sister and she passed onsome more information to us. I thought that otherswith recruits in DIV 912 might find useful so I will post it here. At their PIR we will be seated in a designated area, he toldmy daughter they would be really good seats. The down sidewould be that when liberty is called, we are to remain in our seats and not go onto the floor to be with our sailors. At that time the division willreturn to barracks and change uniforms after which they will meet us ata designated area.

Thanks for the div 912 photo post. I think I found my son in amongst all the young men. Received a short letter yesterday. They had live fire that day (shooting guns) and he described all the shots they had to take with the 9mm and 12ga. At the end he said "It....was... awesome!"
Two weeks to go. Good luck to all the future sailors.
No problem Dana, I check the RTC page pretty much daily, what a shock it was to see the 912 Division flag in the photo of the day.
My son was so much looking forward to live fire training. He had me help him learn to field strip my Beretta 92 months ago.
How great it must be to be so excited about what you're doing.
