Still waiting for that 1st phone call

My son recently had his PIR - July 1st.

 

I also had great anxiety while he was in training! He was granted only one phone call at around the 5 week mark. Then he called right after completing Battle Stations which was 3 days before PIR.

There are all kinds of reasons for not getting a call - the calls are not scheduled or guaranteed. If the division is not doing well in some areas then the RDC's may withhold the phone call privilege. Your son may have had to perform watch duty when the calls were allowed.

It is nerve-wracking but what people say about the "no news is good news" is very true. The only time they are absolutely given a phone call is if something goes wrong - injury, severe illness or some other reason for being set back.

So hang in there! It is so very much worth the wait.

What you can do though is write him every day. My son loved getting letters - he said it was better than any candy he ever had.

What is your sons ship and division? My son is also nearing the half way point. ship 02 division 942

I do understand your anxiousness, but hold hold on the call is coming, and we are praying for your son to do great things, we have a son in boot camp right now also.

Good Morning to all Navy Dads out there, Is anyone son or daughter in boot camp right now on Ship 7 Div 290, if so please let me know, my son is in that Div also. would love to hear from you.
