Navy Dads

Anyone see the new Navy uniforms? No more whites, blues, ties, SAILOR HATS, rate on arm....

Paul just sent me the attached picture. He says eventually the whole fleet will be wearing them (at least E1 - E6, don't know about officers and CPOs)

Wow! New Digs! I love Evan's whites, blues, and Sailors hat. I can't believe the Navy is getting rid of them. This uniform looks much more comfortable though. Go Navy!
I like the new stuff, think it will make the seabag a little lighter, but will also make standing watch harder to keep the dress ones clean. Proud of the Navy for trying to keep up with the other branches though. 200 years of traditions are hard to change and think this is a good change.
Looks nice but like the white hats better.
Yep! Our son wore his while he was home. He took 2 weeks leave and had just gotten home when my dad passed away. He wore his to calling hours. They look very nice!
I've got some more detail.... The dress whites and blues are still in.

081107-N-9999X-002 NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 7, 2008)The NWU is intended for year-round wear and will be the standard working uniform ashore by October 2010. The NWU will replace working utilities, tropical working uniforms, wash khakis, winter working blue, aviation working green, and non-tactical/environmental usage of camouflage utility uniforms. Unless otherwise prescribed by the regional commander, the NWU is authorized to be worn at all facilities on base.
I saw the womens new uniform while at Pensacola and Brooklyn told me that she liked it and could not wait to get it because the women do not have to tuck the top in and just let it hang outside there pants. It really does look nice! I saw it on other Sailors and asked Brooklyn about it as I thought they were Marines whom I saw wearing them ! LOL
it kinda typical for the government though....let's see here- the Army goes from khaki to blue and the Navy goes from blue to khaki.....LOL
