Navy Dads

A little input would be appreciated.  My son is on a sub, we had thought he would be out for 3 weeks.  He's only been on a few months and this is his longest cruise so far.  I have e-mailed him pretty much daily-I convert the sports page from the local paper to text and e-mail it to him.  He has e-mailed back to say all is ok.  3 weeks has come and gone.  My question is, "What if anything can he e-mail about when he will return?"  I'm assuming not much, but his mom and I would like to get some idea.  Thanks.

they cannot email any details about port dates in the surface Navy...I'm sure that emailing port dates from a sub (when mail is available) would be a REAL no-no and lead to serious consequences.....

Hi

I am a sub Mom and my sailor has just finish a 6 month deployment  and yes we e-mailed every day and he said he got most  of our e-mails but they are very busy on the sub  if you have a real concern contact your obudsman they are train so they know what they are doing  they know when the sub comes and goes etc but they can let you know if things are going ok or not  also check on facebook.

we found alot information on fb which i did not think was a  good idea so i contacted the Navy on fb and told them to take it off fb due to national security.

just kept in contact with your sailor all the time through fb or e-mails or phone calls

and tell them you love them and ask them to tell you they love you

 this helps alot

to stay together as they are sailors

help them to go to chapel on the sub this helps alot

 too.

Is your son in the Pacific Fleet or the Atlanic Fleet and what boat is he assigned to? Fast Attack or Boomer?
My son is aboard a Fast Attack stationed in Pearl Harbor, SSN 717 Olympia. I myself have received 2 e-mails last week from my son and heard back once while they're at sea till sometime in December. I know it's hard not knowing where they're at but be patient and he will respond. I believe that being able to respond to e-mails has to do with rank. When my son was an E3,the e-mails were less frequent than now since he has become E5. Thank You for your sons service.

He is base in Pearl Harbor too

every time i e-mail him i got a reply from the  e-mail server that said it was on it way to the sub it takes about a day or so to get to the sub

we pray alot and read the Bible or devotional books   and we have people at church praying for him and the military etc. and i am on the Navy for Moms on line group and the 24 prayer group and I am on the Navy for Dads on line group too plus we keep busy with our jobs etc.

this helps with the time and not knowing things

towards the end of the deployment some of the moms of the boat got an on line group together  so when we knew they were going to a port  we knew when they would be calling etc or when they would be  coming in for the homecomming if you can go to the homecomming go to it it  is worth the pennies  to go and to go to Hawaii

 hope this helps alot

thank your son for his service.

Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate it.

My son is on the USS Kentucky a missile boat. Can he recieve e mails? I didnt get an e mail address from him before he left. I just assumed he couldn't be reached.

Tom. I would assume they all have an email address. My son does and he is just an E-3. Try this, your son's last name first and middle initial@Kentucky.navy.mil. BTW, my son's boat came in yesterday. All is good!

Thanks so much Drew's Dad. I really appreciate it. I will try that for sure but maybe need some clarification.Would that be last name, first initial, middle initial@kentucky.navy.mil correct? Congratulations on your sons return! Are you going to get to see him anytime soon? And thanks again.

It didn't work Drews Dad. Just came back as undeliverable. Is there any directory for it or somewhere I can call and get it? Thanks

I recieved an e mail today Drews dad! Funny..trying to get hold of him and he sends one the next day! I left off the crew color is why my e mail didnt go through. It's @kentucky-blue.navy.mil

My son is on a Boomer. His first deployment was only a month long and I actually recieved about an e mail a week from him and sometimes two. He is on deployment again now for a longer period of time. Two to three months. I recieved two emails from him in the first couple of weeks. But now, havent recieved one in about three and a half weeks and counting. Is this commonplace? anyone with more experience than me with this could answer, would be appreciated.

My son is on his first deployment. He has contacted his wife so I heard all is going OK. I know he & all of his crewmates & professionals but you still can't help but worry somewhat. I am excited for him & can't wait to hear what he has to say about his experience on a sub. I think this first deployment is going longer than he thought but he's cool about these kind of things & will adapt. I know they are busy but hope to hear something sometime soon.
