Hello all,
My son Manny has left for boot camp. Please wish him Clear Skies and Calm Seas! He is already badly missed. besides being my son Manny was also my MC riding partner and loved by all in our group. I look forward in posting updated pics and information as I receive it. Also to have discussions and possible get togethers with other in my area of Florida.

Best wishes for Manny. My daughter called around six last night to say she arrived at Great Lakes. Thank goodness her first day there is not as cold as it has been.
Manuel-- we understand what it is like to have your son or daughter (in my case both!) leave "the nest" so to speak for Great Lakes. You have a lot of support and understanding on the site so do not hesitate to post your concerns on the site...someone has gone trhough exactly what you are experiencing and can lend a supportive ear.....just think though, in a few weeks you'll be making the journey to Great Laeks and see your son walk through the big door in the hallway as a Sailor! Blessing and prayers to you and your family!! Paul
An Tony- there is a special feeling of loss when your little girl goes off to Great Lakes....many of us have experienced that, but as I told Manuel, PIR will make that all worth it! NavyDads is here to help you through your Navy journey...use this resource to your advantage as it is an amazing ride! Blessing sand prayers to you and your family Tony! Paul
Trust you sons decision, send him your support and always let him feel your pride in him. My son is scheduled to graduate on Feb 06, and I feel like a kid at Christmas with anticipation. Your pride in his decision is justified as is the sense of "loss" (only temporary). You have obviously raised a fine young man. God sail with him always.
Thank you all for the kind words, makes me feel better that my son will be in good company.
Manuel and Tony,
I know you must be very proud of the choices your son and daughter have made and their decision to serve this great country. We all know and understand how their physical absence from our lives can be difficult to bare. Once you have their ship address write to them as often as you can. Even write some letters now and have them ready to send out. The recruits treat the daily "Mail Call" like it was Christmas. Letters from home is one of their best means of support and encouragement.
Having a get together with others in your area is a great idea too! Good luck to your soon to be sailors!! And please let us know how they are doing throughout their boot camp experience.

m.davis,
Congratulations on your son's upcoming PIR. We appreciate his commitment to serve as well. The graduation ceremony is wonderful and an occasion you will never forget.

My best wishes to all of you!!
Paige
Thank you Paige
