Whatever you do, do not stay at the Red Carpet Inn on Buckley. Its like a SRO/Homeless Shelter. As a retired Police Lieutenant from NY I can tell you it reminds me of a short stay dirty motel with a rude person named Peter at the Fron Desk, it was so gross i actually walked in and out of the room and asked for a refund. I then stayed at the Ramada Inn which was fantastic. This was my second son who graduated from Navy Boot Camp and could not believe how bad this Motel was. It was listed in the package you recieved from your family when they first got to Boot Camp.

I'm sure Jim, but I must tell you Ramada was very nice and comfortable. I still cannot believe thats this Red Carpert Inn  is put in the welcome packet.

Checked tripadvisor on the Red Carpet and the reviews are all over the place. I stayed at the Ramada as well and found it quite pleasant.

but for someone like me the ramada inn is way over my budget since i am on disablity

When I went for my other son in 06 we stayed at the Navy Lodge which is always reasonable

I hear that Jim. I can be very expensive to attend PIR if you don't live close enough to drive.

Also Jim I'm sure there are many Motels which are very close to that price as the dog center carpet inn,

We're booked at the candlewood suites in Waukegan. We're bringing the pugs so our son can see them for the few hours we're together. Any bad things about that one? I'll search on trip advisor.

John I have not been on in a while, I dont know about the Hotel your booked at. But as long as its not the Red Carpert Inn you should be okay. The Ramada was really nice for a quick 2 day stay

Thanks Jeff. We're looking forward to going up that way! I too have heard bad things about the Red Carpet Inn!

Hello Jeff I'm planning on attending my daughter PIR that same day what are the rates at the Ramada

Whew weeeeee!!! Thanks for the Heads up!  I thought about the Red Carpet at one time, looked at prices at 2 others places before finally settling on the Ramada for Aug 24th PIR. Made the reservations right after we got the date from our son.

Can't wait!

Hey Phil,

Sorry it took so long for me to reply I'm not on this site all the time. I believe if I remember correctly it was a little over 80.00 night. Its a nice place not to bad for the money rooms good service excellent

Thanks so much for the tip, would much rather stay at a Ramada than a Red Carpet.. I know the wife would too..

i wish i knew the prices of the different hotels in area of boot camp so i could plan my budget since i am on a fixed income money is really tight
