a good motel?????

We have booked a siute at the Springhill Suites for my son's 9/21/12 PIR. I have seen many good reviews on this hotel. They were also one of the only ones that were able to accomidate our large family in one room/ suite.

We stayed at the Navy Lodge in July. Like previously mentioned a little dated but it's a good place to stay, is very close to PIR, and the price is right. Room was clean, the ac worked.

we will be staying at the comfort inn in gurnee this week, will give you a report on how it was.

We stayed at the Courtyard By Marriott. It was clean, comfortable, and nearby to stores and restaurants. It was about a 15 min drive to RTC.

I stayed at the Navy Lodge, which is within walking distance, but better to drive to the ceremony. It's actually in a residential neighborhood for naval personnel. Parents of graduates can stay without sign-in by your sailor, but his/her name has to be on the graduating roster. Two queen size beds for $65 (no tax).

 

Accomodations are adequate, nothing fancy; clean rooms and nice employees.

 

By the way, we were lucky that my daughter was doing A-School there in Great Lakes, so she had leave over the weekend. The first night...she slept for 12 hours!

 

Prepare yourself that after the initial giddiness of graduating fades, so does your sailor.

Well we just got home from our trip to Great Lakes last night,  the Comfort Inn gurnee turned out to be a good place. Not as new as some I stay in, but it was clean and staff was freindly. The best thing its right next to the mall and that seems to be where most sailors go after ceremony. I would also recommend you guys go to sarges meet and greet. he provides alot of usefull info. have fun and enjoy your time with your sailors I have never felt more proud.

    We stayed at the Ramada and i don't have many good things to say, except it was fairly close to the base. We were on the 2cd floor and there are NO elevators, so enjoy dragging your luggage up and down the stairwell. They did have a shuttle at 0645-0700 which could only accommadate about half the group and by the time we got to the base, it was 3/4 filled up. We should have drove. For the money you pay, it is not worth it.

Stay at the Navy Lodge. It is on post. Only $60 a night. Renovations taking place but no worries. Our room was clean and nice. We didn't spend much time in it. Most of our time was spent out and about with our sailor. We took a cab to PIR to and from there to avoid traffic and parking. $3 per person. It is the way to go. A must do is to go to Sarges meet and greet at 6p.m. Thursday night at the Sundance Saloon. You will learn a lot about where to go, how to get around, tips and tricks. Make sure you do it.

I stay at the Navy Lodge when I go to RTC.  The hotel is modest, but very close to PIR and is located on base.  The rates are very reasonable and the staff extremely friendly.  Best of all, you are surrounded by Navy young men and women and other families who have kids graduating from RTC.  I encourage you to visit  www.navyformoms.com , there you'll find other families going and have more support as your PIR approaches.  You might even be able to hook up with family groups creating new friends and relationships as your son continues his service in the US Navy!

Get this.  Now we had a great experience at the Navy Lodge.  We checked out Saturday morning.  My wife heard on Navy for Moms that someone had a wheel and tire stolen off their car Saturday night.  Thats crazy right?

holiday inn express has navy/grad special also includes breakfast.5 -6 miles from the base.
