How is the parking at Great Lakes? Do we need to arrive really early at graduation to get a parking spot?

Tim...you need to take into account seating versus parking...The parking garage is fairly large and should accomodate those attending. While PIR begins at 0900 sharp, the gate opens at 0630...The bleachers fill up quickly. My sons PIR was 12 divisions and we left the hotel at 0610 and were in a taffic line within 10 mins...the line at the gate down Buckley was almost a mile long...they move you through the gate efficiently but if you want a good seat, get there early. Best of luck.

Is the parking on the same grounds as the graduation hall? Or do you have to ride a bus there?

Same grounds and within about 50 yds from the door of the USS Midway drill hall.

shuttle is the answer !!!!

Parking in the train station lot is the other answer. Just drive around the long line and pay $2. Then walk in. Much quicker.

If you get to the gate between 6:30 and 7:00 am, you shouldn't have any problems. There is ample parking on site. The hall fills up fast, so if you want to get a good seat in front of your sailors division, get there early.............

or take a shuttle as we always recommend

smart folks take a shuttle or taxi...parking isn't bad...the traffic getting into the base is horrible unless you take the by-pass route we have posted in the PIR group: http://www.navydads.com/forum/topics/by-pass-buckley-road-traffic-f...
