My son is home on leave after A school in Pcola. He looks great. He will be on the Mighty Ike flight deck ABH. Any advice on moving to Norfolk? What cell phone carrier and plan is best for Sailors?

My son is also on the IKES flight deck ABH CRASH & SALVAGE Welcome to the IKE family.J lives in Hampton and seems to like it,he is with Verizon and has no problem, great service( no dropped calls). Our son doesn't like Norfolk (the town),but thats him.Good luck.
My husband is stationed to the IKE. I found that my local phone carrier didn't work out here and most people went to verizon..I have T-Mobile but since he has been stationed here he hasn't been on a deployment so as far as overseas I'm not sure how any of them perform. Most people call via wi-fi that I have found out. Norfolk isnt bad we live in military housing. If he has a car it needs base stickers..if he goes to the one next to the norfolk base he is going to wait forever in line..instead go to little creek amphib base it's right up the road and there usually nobody in line at their pass and id office. Welcome to the IKE My husband is an MM (Machinest Mate) and he works pretty much in the very bottom of the ship and only sees daylight when he is going to and from work..so he never gets to converse with the flight crew..but he does help make plenty of steam to help lauch the jets off the deck!
Thanks Amber. My son also went with Verizon and it seems to work well. Best of luck to you and your husband and please pass along my thanks for his service to our country.
hello Robert,
my son joined the Mighty Ike just before the last outing. As for the cell phone, we just kept him on our family plan with AT&T. $10 extra a month was a small price to pay to hear from him and get text when in port.
As for moving, I am assuming it is him you are refering to moving, my son got a fellow sailor on ship to share an appartment.
