In a recent letter from my son he indicated that if he can maintain his grades and can get a bit of luck on his side, then he is attempting to get orders for DDG 1000 and he used the acronym ACNT. I have searched for anything I can find on ACNT and all I can find is references to the Navy's Aegis Computer Network Training Course. I am assuming that I am on the right track but I am looking for any information concerning the program that I can find.
I try to keep up with what he is doing as much as I can but he is beginning to get into areas that I am completely baffled by, I also assume that much about the program is classified, so I'm looking for any advice on how I can support him with my limited knowledge of the program. He never talks any kind of specifics with me, I believe this is partly due to the fact that he knows that I wouldn't have a clue what he is talking about not to mention that I have a feeling that he is entering parts of his education that I'm not allowed to know anything about.......So this is a situation and a position I'm not used to being in as a father when it comes to my son.
Any advice in this matter is welcomed.
Thank you
- Jason

Jason,
Not much info I can find but here's one you may have already read on ACNT http://ww2.dcmilitary.com/stories/010710/southpotomac_28109.shtml. From what I can gather the acronym ACNT stands for (Aegis Computer Network Technician) with regards to Aegis Weapons System.
Have a great weekend,
Gary
The DDG 1000 is such a new weapons platform that I would imagine almost everything associated with it is gonna be classified......bet there is almost no public domain info out there
Thanks guys.....I kinda figured these would be the responses I would receive on this question. I've always had a feeling that he would end up doing something that I wouldn't be able to know too very much about.
Its just a new feeling for me , for his whole life I've known practically every thing he was doing. So the idea of him doing something that he isn't allowed to tell me about is an odd feeling to experience. I am sure I will get used to it over time.
The last time I saw him we joked about how the next time that we got to see each other, that he would finally get to tell me no on something. So I guess that time is quickly closing in on us, which is fine by me. It will just take both of us some time to figure out how handle the situation. He and I have always been very open with one another when it comes to our daily activities. We will figure it out I guess, and I'm incredibly proud of him so I guess I'll just sit back and try and enjoy the ride..
Thanks
Jason
