We had a call from our Sailor Wednesday night as well. Boy did he sound tired, but excited that everything is behind him. He also said that there is a place at RTC that one can watch the ceremony via the live stream (which works great for us b/c we have grand parents and one sibling that exceeded the 4 guest limit).
Thanks Jim. Hopefully I did lead anyone astray..................I think he said it was at the NPX?

Robert, I just copied this from the family guide off of the RTC web site:
"Those who are not on the access list should remain off baseand meet with their Sailor once he or she commences offbase daytime liberty. We do not have a designatedwaiting area nor do we have a standby line."
Do not plan on letting your extra guests on to the base. But if you ask about an area where they stream the PIR, it would be nice for us to know that.

if you are driving tomorrow, be sure to check out our traffic by-pass: http://www.navydads.com/forum/topics/by-pass-buckley-road-traffic-f...
Got in to late for the meet and greet but, did drive around a bit and checked out the Ohio St entrance. Gate 8?
PIR10182013: What an awesome ceremony! It is truly amazing the job that RTC does in transforming the young men and women that enter into the Sailors that I witnessed Friday. We had a great time visiting with our sailor and meet several of his buddies. However, we got a late start from Michigan Thursday night and missed the meet and greet.
I wish all of you and your sailors the absolute best in life, and pray that they (sailors) will all have a safe and rewarding career in the USN.
Bravo Zulu!

a huge THANK YOU to everyone for all of the information and support over the past 9 weeks. PIR was a great experience, especially when those doors went up. The young man we saw off 9 weeks ago was not the same one that walked through that door. Unbelievable what they can do in such a short period of time, turning a young person into a Sailor.
Sarge, a big shout out to you...THANK YOU for all the support you show our sailors and the information on how to navigate both PIR and what happens next (I know our Sailor and his shipmates utilized your services today..and keep your card handy)
Looking forward to watching our new Sailor grow further, while serving this great country
